To ask you how long TTC took?

Just had month 6 of TTC and negative tests still 😞
I know 6 months is nothing really but it is just getting me so down now. I have other DC that were conceived within a month or two but this was from a previous marriage.

I think it just feels like a long time because it is never far from my thoughts. Just feeling really sad at the moment 😞

Im pregnant for the first time and it took 12 months and thats not including the 9 months it took for my cycle return to normal post pill. All initial blood tests, ultrasound and sperm count was normal so I guess it sometimes just takes a while. Good luck!

Pippsqueak · 29/11/2016 18:44

10 years here - and it's been like waiting for a bus - we are now expecting twins after 6 years fertility treatment for unexplained fertility!

TheNutcracker · 29/11/2016 18:51

Around 7 months for DD1 and first try for DD2!

Six months feels like a really long time and it does start to get you down after a while, especially when you've spent 20 years desperately trying not to get pregnant!

Good luck.

finova · 29/11/2016 18:58

1 month
3 months
2 months

I took vitamins for a while before trying, but otherwise nothing special.

BusyBeez99 · 29/11/2016 19:01

3 weeks. Hope it happens for you soon.

ChocoChou · 29/11/2016 19:02

2 days for DC1 (literally missed 2 pills... surprise!)
It's been 4 months and counting now for number 2

JugglingFromHereToThere · 29/11/2016 19:21

Just over a year for DD (so I know some of those feelings)
Around 3 months for DS (DC2)

Good luck Flowers

PickleMix · 29/11/2016 19:30

Dd 1 month
Ds 2.5 years!

Summerwood1 · 29/11/2016 19:31

1st attempt 3 times.

CPtart · 29/11/2016 20:38

3 months
First month, and just knew straightaway.

Spotsandstars · 29/11/2016 20:55

7 years then followed by four miscarriages. We got our son 11 years after starting to conceive.

ollieplimsoles · 29/11/2016 21:05

We conceived the 2nd month of using no contraception, I have very regular and predicable cycles, I was taking folic acid and starflower oil.

cheekybean · 29/11/2016 21:14

It took me 8 years, i also have PCOS. After several bouts of fertility treatment, rampant sex from day 10 till day 15, i was just about to start something involving a lot of needles, IUI, Confused I found out I was pregnant with DS1 and the reason for so many failed attempts i think, i ovulate around day 20-21 and by this time in my cycle i was so sick of sex most of the time we gave up. Too much i know!

Fell pregnant easily with daughter and then DS2 was conceived within a month.

Unicorn1981 · 29/11/2016 22:22

I'm not really sure exactly how long. Myself and do have never really used contraception but we're 'not trying not to' for about 4 years. I have endometrial cysts on both ovaries, one is quite large. I'd given up hope and it happened! We're now trying for number 2. I have to admit I thought it would be easier but after around 18 months of it I'm giving up hope again! I'm 35. Had dd at 31.

Deadsouls · 29/11/2016 22:39

DC1 - 9 months
DC2 - about 13/14 months

With dc2 I had acupuncture as it was taking so long, even with doing ovulation tests, temperature taking etc. I did get pregnant within about 2 months.

Gutted2016 · 29/11/2016 22:55

The thing is, you get a lot drummed in to you at school and at home during the teenage years about doing it once and getting pregnant! Or... horror... you might even get preggo from foreplay!

And while you might get pregnant quickly (mine took 9 months and then 3 years for DC2, with treatment, but we only did it once when I first got the meds which I hadn't even taken properly) equally it may take some time. 6 months is hardly a thing but I know it's all consuming when you just want to be pregnant. Go easy on yourself.

Unicorn1981 · 29/11/2016 22:56

How does acupuncture work?

Pistachiois50pmore · 29/11/2016 23:00

Tried for over a year, not a squeak.

Stopped trying as I was getting too close to end of job contract and didn't want to be jobless with a baby.

Moved jobs. Much nicer job. Waited 6 months (felt like the minimum socially acceptable time to try - although we thought it would take ages). To my amazement/mild embarrassment, I got pregnant first month trying.

Second job was much much less stressful (was bullied in the first one) which is what I think made the difference. Even though the salary was less and I only got SMP whereas the old job had a generous package, I'd much rather be working there.

Essexgirlupnorth · 29/11/2016 23:02

16 months for #1 already knew I had PCOS lost 1 and a half stone on slimming world and had been to fertility clinic for the test but got pregnant before seeing the consultant.
On first proper cycle TTC number 2 after having my implant out.

DustyMaiden · 29/11/2016 23:07

30 seconds, took a month to find out. Was the same 14 times.

Hogwashhotpants · 30/11/2016 03:08

You had 14kids Dusty ? Shock

I got pregnant the first time of trying with dc1 and on the 2nd month of trying with dc2, both times checking ovulation but to be fair I was in my 20s. I think it would be much more instructive to hear how old people were alongside the time it took them to concieve.

Italiangreyhound · 30/11/2016 03:36

dd born after 2 years. DS adopted after 67.45 years trying and 20 months adoption process.

SayenRose suggest sex every two days during your fertile time think this is from end of period for about 10 days but can't remember now!

If no pregnancy after one year approach your GP for referral to fertility clinic. (If you were over 245 I'd say go to GP now, believe this is suggested advice).

Good luck. Thanks

Italiangreyhound · 30/11/2016 03:36

6.5 years trying!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Italiangreyhound · 30/11/2016 03:40

Sorry...

If no pregnancy after one year of trying approach your GP for referral to fertility clinic/investigations for you and partner. (If you were 35 or over I'd say go to GP now, after 6 months of trying, believe this is suggested advice).

TheDowagerCuntess · 30/11/2016 04:28

16 months with DC1, with early miscarriages in the two months prior to successfully conceiving DC1

2 months with DC2.
