To find "busy" people irritating?

I understand that modern life is very busy, with many parents (and those without children!) having a huge amount to juggle, but a lot of people seem to get a buzz from telling people how booked up and busy they are. People are almost embarrassed to admit that they are available when trying to organise a night out.

Is it just me who thinks this or do some people really have a social engagement every night?

I never say I'm too busy but I often say sorry I can't. Life chucks plenty of dull stuff at all of us, pairing socks kind of boring but necessary things. I think some people like me are deeply resentful of the mediocre things in life so do fill spare time with lots of other stuff that interests them.

I think it's the difference between what interests people that causes the friction. If you like TV then that's fine but if you don't that's also fine.

Plus some people do just like to study, I have done so many classes over the years. Also trained for 3 distinct careers and took professional exams in each. My brain just works at speed it always has so is sort of hungry for stuff.

Had two DC, worked and retired very early, currently doing art classes and pairing socks whilst feeling deep resentment towards the socks.
