To tell this bride to go swivel?!

Badger84 · 28/10/2016 19:30

A friend of a friend is getting married and she had asked me to do her makeup as a favour. I am not a MUA but I enjoy hair and makeup and have a huge selection of makeup. I was shocked but agreed when I highlighted the point that I am not professional and she was happy with that.

5 makeup trials later and we have come to the understanding that she has unrealistic expectations of what I can provide. Her SIL has been at each of these trials and completely picked apart what I have done. The brides style is quite errr alternative (think gothic) so I've found it incredibly hard to recreate the look she wants. We finally came to a compromise and the bride was happy.

We went to the hen do previous weekend and the SIL kept making comments about makeup. Today I have received a message from the bride basically saying if I didn't want to do the makeup then I didn't have to 🤔

Not sure how to reply? AIBU to be annoyed that I have spent over 5 hours with the bride, using my makeup FOR FREE and now she is essentially ditching me. The wedding is next week! My DH says I should be relieved but I can't help but feel really annoyed!

OP are you hungover from all the free booze you consumed and that's why no update?

YouTheCat · 06/11/2016 10:05

I hope the bride looked like Homer Simpson had used his make up gun on her. Grin

itlypocerka · 06/11/2016 18:43

Another impatient mumsnetter hoping to know what happened...

ssd · 07/11/2016 08:16

well?? Hmm

WhatchaMaCalllit · 07/11/2016 13:44

LOL @ YouTheCat

Can you imagine!!!!

Hope the OP will come back with an update.

AHobbyaweek · 06/01/2017 07:02

@badger84 just in case the tagging feature works and gets a long awaited update. Wink

toomuchtooold · 06/01/2017 07:10

Damn I thought this was the update!

dustarr73 · 06/01/2017 08:01

Ah i was getting excited thought this was the update.

pklme · 06/01/2017 08:02

@ahobbyaweek you've started a run...!

pregnantat50 · 06/01/2017 08:27

as your not a close friend, but are going to the wedding, I would tell her there is no charge for the make up she used during the trials and to consider it a wedding present :)

pregnantat50 · 06/01/2017 08:28

just seen date, whoops

User006point5 · 06/01/2017 08:54

Damn it, I hadn't seen this thread originally, and now I'm desperate for the update, too!

Liiinoo · 06/01/2017 08:58

I'd cut the bride some slack, if that is her most bridezilla moment she will be doing ok. Reserve your venom for the SIL who sounds like a stirring bitch. Thank your lucky stars she isn't your SIL, that poor bride is going to be stuck with her for life.

Enjoy the wedding and make sure you look stunning.

JoeyJoeJoeJuniorShabadu · 06/01/2017 09:03

I'd love to know how it all panned out in the end.
Come baaaaaaaaaaaaaack OP!!

Aki23 · 06/01/2017 09:03

I would just say 'okay', and be relieved that I wouldn't have to deal with the drama on the day

Quintessing · 06/01/2017 09:18

How do people even find these old threads to put random comments on?
More importantly, why revive old threads with nothing of substance?

elfies · 06/01/2017 09:18

I'm so sorry that after all the time we rehearsed your make up , you prefer someone else to do it, but I quite understand , Its a very important day for you .
As for me it will leave me free to enjoy the wedding day purely as a guest without worrying ,which will be a weight off my mind .
I hope the person who will be doing your makeup makes a fabulous job which you and your family are happy with ,and that you look beautiful on your photographs .
Best wishes for your wedding day

I'd be tempted to text back "no, it's fine, I'm happy to do it" and see what she says next.

Temporaryname137 · 06/01/2017 09:31

She'd probably say, "the wedding was months ago, are you still going on about it!" Wink

PaulDacresConscience · 06/01/2017 09:35

Oh bugger - saw the thread and thought that the post-wedding update might have been added!

QueenMortificado · 06/01/2017 09:38

Quitnessing it was revived with the hope the OP would provide an update

I wish people would just read the date of the OP though!

ghostwatch · 06/01/2017 09:45

Yeah be relieved but also how irritating. What a complete Goth zilla

Quintessing · 06/01/2017 09:55

It will have fallen out of the OPs "threads I am" on long ago.

It would have to be stickied, for her to see it.
Or somebody would have to PM her and ask.

Lets do that. Cause now I need to know.

toomuchtooold · 06/01/2017 10:04

If you tag someone by putting the @ sign before their username it's supposed to notify them @Quintessing. I got an email when someone tagged me.

Megatherium · 06/01/2017 10:06

The @ thing only works if the other person is signed up to it, and if they actually use their MN email address - some people have a separate email for subscribing to MN and other social media which they don't necessarily check much. A PM would be more reliable.
