AIBU?

To tell this bride to go swivel?!

A friend of a friend is getting married and she had asked me to do her makeup as a favour. I am not a MUA but I enjoy hair and makeup and have a huge selection of makeup. I was shocked but agreed when I highlighted the point that I am not professional and she was happy with that.

5 makeup trials later and we have come to the understanding that she has unrealistic expectations of what I can provide. Her SIL has been at each of these trials and completely picked apart what I have done. The brides style is quite errr alternative (think gothic) so I've found it incredibly hard to recreate the look she wants. We finally came to a compromise and the bride was happy.

We went to the hen do previous weekend and the SIL kept making comments about makeup. Today I have received a message from the bride basically saying if I didn't want to do the makeup then I didn't have to 🤔

Not sure how to reply? AIBU to be annoyed that I have spent over 5 hours with the bride, using my makeup FOR FREE and now she is essentially ditching me. The wedding is next week! My DH says I should be relieved but I can't help but feel really annoyed!

It would be mean.

Get a relative to tell her you've adopted a raw food vegan diet instead.

Make up shenaniganspretty awful but I'm more shocked that she copied your wedding speech and joke! We're there any guests who had been to your wedding? If so presumably they would have spotted it as a rerun? freaky weird folk about.

Perhaps you could google wedding make-up and link one that looks quite like it but isn't actually her, just to give us an idea? If, of course, anyone else was ever that, shall we call it, daring.

A former friend had two aunts who looked so similar that I asked whether they were twins. Turns out they weren't even related - one was uncle's wife. They just liked looking alike, hair, makeup, clothing, and doing pretty much everything together. That's kind of sweet if both of you like it, but quite the reverse if it's someone you're not at all close to and don't especially want to be.

diamonds the brother may not have had much choice in children's names, house and car... have you never met a couple with a completely uneven balance of power? I've known some very forceful people - male and female - who make all the decisions and their partners go along with it for an easy life.
I'm not saying it's right, but it's a possibility...

Anyway, I got sidetracked.

Ok this is similar to what it looked like but obviously the bride has really pale skin and the purple eyeshadow was darker

To tell this bride to go swivel?!

Oh my.
Darker purple eyeshadow... with so much black and purple lipstick? And light skin? She must have looked like a skull :0

(Sorry to anybody that likes this style of makeup)

But if bride usually has a strong look she'll probably look ok
It'd be odd if she suddenly wore nudes and naturals

Does she know your mum really well?-to be asking her about your Netflix viewing I mean?

How many of the same people went to both weddings-she seems to know your friends well. Did no one comment on the speech similarities?

gimme she wears no makeup day to day but always wears black gothic clothes.

She works with my mum and she came to my wedding so knows the majority of my friends.

My family all looked at me when she started her speech because they recognised the speech and they all commented on how it was the same as mine. TBH my family thinks it's funny! They don't see why I'm annoyed!
