AIBU to ask where 30 year old women shop

I haven't bought clothes for agggges! I've got some money to update my wardrobe and went back to my usual shop (can I mention it here?) and find that it's aimed at early to mid 20s.

I don't wanna spend loads but I do wanna look great and show of the 3 stone I lost

So can I be totally unreasonable and ask where 30-odd year old women shop who wanna look stylish but not like a 20 year old?

I really like Sainsbury's clothes. They are flattering and stylish without being too young looking. I have bought loads recently as their autumn range is really nice this year.

I like Zara, river island for tops too. House of Fraser is fab for all the concessions!

Well I suppose it depends on taste really loads of people with have differing opinions on clothing styles but I'm early/mid 30's and feel more comfortable shopping in places like Next, Joe Browns, Joules, jack wills is a guilty pleasure as it really is aimed for a younger market but the jeans, coats, hoodies, shirts and t-shirts I think people in 30's can get away with, Monsoon, Boden and I will shop in places like asos/Dorothy Perkins etc but just pick what I think is more appropriate for my age and style.

Well done on the 3 stone! H&M for basics and charity shops. Depends what your 'style' is I guess. Can't pin mine down! Today I am wearing black tights, a black embroidered mini skirt that I picked up from a hippie market 13 years ago and a second hand olive cable knit jumper that should probably be a size 14 but has been accidentally shrunk to 'fitted'!

I'm in my early 30s and my wardrobe is mainly a mixture of Next, Boden and Hobbs. I almost always shop in the sales or on ebay, it needn't be expensive.

Ruth I've also bought loads from sainsburys autumn range this year.

I like top shop, zara, house of fraser, tescos and I liked apricot but I think they're shut down now. If I had the money all my clothes would be from all saints.

Disagree re: Sainsbury's. Their Autumn range is grim. I normally buy a fair bit from there but this season is so shocking I've only managed pyjamas!

H&M and Debenhams are my go to shops.

I like Zara, French Connection, Hallhuber, &otherstories, Mango, Top Shop, United Colours of Benetton (though you do have to wade through the frump).

I covet Claudie Pierlot, but can't afford that.

Joe Browns is my big one - probably 50% of the non basics part of my wardrobe is from there.

I also love White Stuff, Mantaray (Debenhams), Fat Face, Joules and Crew.

Agree with PP that Sainsburys is surprisingly good. I've got some nice winter jumpers from there.

I will also trawl charity shops and ebay for Karen Millen dresses and Ralph Lauren jumpers, shirts and jackets. Wouldn't buy those new though!

For shoes and boots - Fly London.

I also like seeing what total randomness places like TK Maxx and (hush ... wouldn't admit this openly ...) Camden Market (!!) can provide.

For basic tops to layer up with and everyday jeans I actually use Primark quite happily.

However - I suspect that I do dress a bit young for my age.

I'm 34, I tend to shop in gap or jack wills/Abercrombie & fitch.

See usually I can only buy night wear in sainsburys or kids clothes but this year I've bought lovely dresses, really nice trousers, tops and a couple of jumpers. I keep getting compliments when I wear them as well so in my sainsburys they're doing something right finally.

I'm 32 and shop online mainly. Very, simply be, Evans.

But I'm a size 22 so limited really. Although I've got a few bits from next and Tesco.

Oh yes, I liked Apricot when it was around.

And I love the look of All Saints clothes on the hangers but they don't look right on me - I think you need to be tall.

manic I like the randomness of tk maxx as well, I love trying on the ball gowns they sometimes have in there.

I shop at: warehouse, French connection, m&s (but never per una), LK Bennett, Reiss. Zara for work stuff
Topshop, H&M, Jack Wills, Hollister, new look, oasis, ASOS for casual stuff
Coast, phase 8 for dressier stuff

Joe Browns has some of the ugliest stuff I've ever seen

I've got some lovely bits from MN recommended stuff - the whistles tube skirt, the hush rouched skirt

I love Whistles and Jaeger. Shame I can't afford to shop there as much as I used to since DC came along. Now it's more Topshop, Zara and Jack Wills.

32 mainly Zara, Warehouse, Oasis, basic tops boden, odd thing in next, casual bits (not prints or logos) fatface and Superdry and super cosy slobbish round the house hoodies and trackies Abercrombie & Fitch.

New Look, Sainsburys (amazing for Autumn/winter this year!), Amazon (discounted Tommy Hilfiger is great), Superdry, sometimes river island but I find it over priced and some of the stuff is too "young"

Mainly eBay these days as I don't have much left over for me if anything each month. But I tend to look for Gap jeans, trousers and jumpers, the odd bit of Joules, Boden dresses and H&M for basic tops and trousers. Some Next tops too.

If I'm feeling flush, Karen Millen dresses and Reiss coats. But I live in jodhpurs and hoodies when not at work so Jack Wills ones are great for keeping warm. I have two A&F coats as the sleeves are extra long and the hoods keep me dry really well.

I bought two lovely tops from Pepperberry recently but don't have noticeably large boobs for my size so don't need the specialist fit, it's just flattering.

Wide variety. Hobbs and reiss for nice work stuff. Zara. Warehouse for 90% of my non work clothes, love the style and sizeing fits me well. French connection. Concessions in department stores. I used to get quite a lot of basic work stuff (cardies, plain black tops etc) from next but the local one to work has shut.

I've often seen people in lovely things that they say are from Zara. But whenever I go in I can't see anything I like at all. It's a weird paradox (not sure that's the right word. Conundrum maybe) that I've never been able to solve.
