AIBU to ask where 30 year old women shop

I haven't bought clothes for agggges! I've got some money to update my wardrobe and went back to my usual shop (can I mention it here?) and find that it's aimed at early to mid 20s.

I don't wanna spend loads but I do wanna look great and show of the 3 stone I lost

So can I be totally unreasonable and ask where 30-odd year old women shop who wanna look stylish but not like a 20 year old?

I am 35 and buy most of my stuff in H&M. You can get some really nice things.

I also bought a dress from TopShop the other day for a wedding. I did feel a bit old in there though.

I'm 34.

Workwear predominantly from Jaeger, with a bit of Hobbs. I used to get a lot from banana republic but it is all a bit samey now and the UK stores are closing soon. I love Reiss and Zara but as a 6' size 16 their stuff rarely fits.

Then Whistles, & Other Stories, and Uniqlo. Occasionally Gap for basics. Carefully selected Borden, but never the 'fun' prints. I am entirely the wrong shape for Cos but I admire the aesthetic. Recently discovered Finery, too. A Mint Velvet is opening in our town and I am intrigued. Sainsbury's for jeans (really!).

I mourn the loss of Aubin & Wills and Hobbs NW3. I haven't found anywhere else which does that tweedy, heritage-y look so well.

fanny I'm not sure what shape DOES suit cos, I'm a size 8 and I try stuff on thinking I might look like some super cool scandi style goddess. I just look like a demented bag lady!

I shop from a variety of shops and websites including Cos, Other Stories, Jigsaw, M&S, Asos, Hobbs for work and bits from H&M and Topshop.

I think you need to be a rather flat 6ft person to carry off Cos?

Of high street brands, Cos. People seem to love it or hate it. I think their designs are fabulous, very stylish and quirky. I have half a dozen dresses from them and husband was stunned at how cheap they were. He assumed they were from one of my usual very much not on the high street ranges.

Everything in Cos looks as if it cost at least twice what it actually cost. I don't shop in places like House of Fraser but was in last week to get tights- had a quick look at some very dowdy dresses priced at least twice as much as what I would have expected from the look of them.

No. I'm 5'4". I might be deluded but I love my Cos dresses (3 just at knee length, 3 at mid calf) I love the feel of them too. 2 are lightweight wool which hangs beautifully, 2 are a gorgeous silk and cotton mix and 1 a lovely heavyweight cotton sheen. They feel expensive.

Brora. They have some lovely stuff in silks and tweeds.

Lindy Bop, Collectif, Sainsburys, M&S are my go to shops. I also wear dresses mostly and dress them up with accessories for work. Cardigans from Primark, Asda, Sainsburys and New Look. I'm mid thirties though.

I think there is a serious gap in the market for Women this age. I really struggle to find things I like. They are either frumpy or too young. I used to shop in oasis and warehouse lots but feel these are too young for me most of the time now. But I do still buy staples like cardigans and the odd top from there. I find I have to be careful though.

IMO next and Sainsbury's are too frumpy for me and I find that their clothes don't look good on me. The same with Zara, just not a good fit.

I ve recently found Boden and have brought a lot from there. But I have had to buy quality rather than quantity because of the price difference.

I also like French connection and hollisters for their high rose jeans.

I recently

I'm 41 and I think I still wear the kind of things I wore in my 20s!. I like tight jeans and good quality knitwear. I don't buy clothes too often because I like high quality things that last, so I go for J Brand (jeans), Joseph, Equipment, Missoni (gorgeous colours and patterns), some Zadig and Voltaire, that kind of thing. I realise these are expensive but I'd rather have a couple of really good quality pieces than buy a whole new wardrobe regularly. When I'm with the kids I wear Gap t shirts and jeans mainly. I am very little though, 5ft 2" and around 7st 4lb so there aren't many places I can get well fitting clothes, especially trousers. Rubbish that we have to change our style as we age though, I still wear trainers with studs/ spikes on them and skin tight jeans. Wear what you're comfortable in! As you're losing weight I would muddle through with what I had then go and buy a few fabulous things for the new you once you reach your target. Congratulations by the way!
