I have a 15 day old who had an overnight hospital stay last week for poor feeding and weight loss,he has really improved since. However his toddler sister came home with a tummy bug Friday and today newborn ds has not fed since 8.30am. He vomited badly at 9am, again at 11.30 and has rejected all feeds no matter how much we tried. Syringe fed him at 6pm and he projectiled it all back up. He also has a temp of 35.3 and barely woken all day.

I don't know what to do :(

Thinking of you all too Flowers

bullshift · 17/10/2016 22:37

Oh god, OP Flowers

I'm so glad you took him in and he's now getting treatment.

Thinking of you all and wishing him better very soon.

PurpleCrazyHorse · 17/10/2016 22:48

Thinking of you too. So pleased you're in the right place and hoping for a straightforward recovery.

DS had bronchiolitis at 5mo and was hospitalised on oxygen and with a feeding tube, he was discharged a day later looking so much better. Little ones can go downhill quickly but can also recover quickly too. I on the other hand needed a stiff drink!

Just some practicalities, if you're parked in the hospital car park mention it to the nurses in case you need a longer stay pass. Also, if food on the ward isn't great, you might find more choice in the hospital staff canteen (it's usually open to patients and visitors and often open nearly 24hrs).

Thinking of you OP

ThomasRichard · 18/10/2016 21:28

Just seen this OP. You did the right thing, of course. I hope your baby boy is doing better today.

Beth2511 · 18/10/2016 21:33

Ds and I really want to thank you all for your concern. Third night here now, I'm exhausted but he is an absolute trooper! And I thought I'd share a picture that makes me a very very proud mum because he has taken so much and barely made a fuss and even treated me to some awake time for the first time in days. He is starting to improve on the feeding front which is a major obstacle we need to over come. His sepsis is being treated with everything they can do and they also think he has a cows milk protein intolerance which isn't helping matters!

I just can't believe how normal he looks now compared to the boy who slept 36 hours straight yesterday/sunday
