Clowns - to wish the media would stop reporting them

MsJamieFraser · 07/10/2016 20:22

If anyone hasn't heard, the new popular thing to do, is dress up as a clown with a weapon and go about terrifying people by intimidation and brandishing a weapon.

AIBU to think the media should stop reporting on this and these idiots will just go onto the next trend.

Currently my quiet home town is full of police and sirens blaring as a few idiots are out terrorising the public.

Your home town is full of police and sirens because people are dressed up as clowns? Really?!

It's the knives which are the problem

Couldn't care less if people want to dress up as clowns though

Fizzer123 · 07/10/2016 20:26

Yep. I didn't know about this and got a very alarming text from the school talking about clowns & police at school. Haven't the morons got anything better to do. I think they've been watching too much American horror story Angry

MrsExpo · 07/10/2016 20:26

Not being unreasonable at all. These people are clearly brainless morons with nothing better to do with their sad, deficient little lives. But then the media report on everything so the latest stupid idea is everywhere for idiots to copy at will. But like every stupid trend, it will pass in time. Hopefully before too many people are permanently traumatised by the actions of the few.

The rumours started of killers clowns going around our town today, daughter came home from school terrified. The police have put up a statement on the local Facebook asking for calm. It's crazy Confused

YouTheCat · 07/10/2016 20:28

We have a lot of this in our city. The stupid twats have posted all their intended target areas on instagram though so hopefully the police will catch up with them very soon.

I know some parents of younger kids who have been traumatised by these idiots jumping out in parks.

CurtainsforRonnie · 07/10/2016 20:29

Theres been one in America or Canada recently.

Jigglypuffsinging · 07/10/2016 20:29

It's not a problem people dressing up as clowns eh?

Not a problem to terrorise and intimidate others, whilst concealing your true identity? That's really not a problem?

jacrispy · 07/10/2016 20:29

If a clown comes by me knife or no knife I'm twatting it round the head and running!

MoonfaceAndSilky · 07/10/2016 20:29

We may live in the same home town grin we have clowns causing havoc here today!

Same here. At my DC's school there was apparently one in the field Shock

Fizzer123 · 07/10/2016 20:29

Coconutty - a Halloween type clown, bloody, horror mask type clown, brandishing a knife. The Police are taking it seriously in our town.

leccybill · 07/10/2016 20:29

I had several students on tears today over fears about killer clowns.

How is this even a thing?

MsJamieFraser · 07/10/2016 20:30

I think anyone no matter that they are dressed as, barging towards people to the point they cause injury to the individual should be locked up.

Yes, people are dressed as clowns, have been terrifying the public tonight, young children have been injured by running away from these scum.

KenDoddsDadsDog · 07/10/2016 20:30

DD came home terrified about 'murder clowns'. There was one followed children to one of the schools nearby.

SimonLeBonOnAndOn · 07/10/2016 20:33

YANBU seems to be a thing right now.
Youngest DS reckons he saw one on the way home from the skate park last night.

FlouncingIntoAutumn · 07/10/2016 20:33

DS2 has been asking me about this, the DC wanted the lights on tonight. I thought it was just child talk at school over an American incident. Didn't realise it was a real thing in the UK too.

whirlygirly · 07/10/2016 20:34

Where the feck are you all? Shock I don't think they've made it as far south west as where I am. Cows maybe..

whirlygirly · 07/10/2016 20:36

Ah. It's a "northern problem" apparently (according to the mirror online) Hmm

fleabagmonkey · 07/10/2016 20:37

And an Essex one. Idiots scaring people here as well.

GplanAddict · 07/10/2016 20:42

I must have been in my own bubble today! Not heard anything about clowns! So where do you all live??

DramaInPyjamas · 07/10/2016 20:42

My dd used to quite like clowns and even spent the summer at circus school so this has fucked up her love of that.

Last years horror craze at school was Charlie Charlie the moving pencil, it only lasted a week or so before everyone got bored of it.

MoonfaceAndSilky · 07/10/2016 20:42

Suffolk and Sussex as well, apparently.
