AIBU?

To think this kitten is BROWN!?

Ooh, my first ever AIBU, this is exciting.

Please help settle an arguement I'm currently having with DP. I know this kitten is a tabby, and therefore a bit multi-tonal, but if I would say he is definitely brown, where as DP swears he is grey!

I just don't understand how we can both be so certain!

So, which one of us is colourblind, and AIBU??

Celen our silver tabby had kittens and they looked just like yours! Dad was a big fluffy black haired lump.

Stealth kitten brag, I think! Smile Beautiful kitty. Equally brown and grey.

Londonrach newborn eyes have amazingly fluid, metallic colours, I think!

Definetly a stealth kitten brag

But I don't care! I love all these kitten pictures GrinGrin

Mine are not talking to me, as I did not give them the entirety of my chicken sandwich.

Papergirl, tabbies with narrow vertical stripes on their bodies are mackerel tabbies. Those with swirly, blobby markings are classic or blotched tabbies. Yours looks like a classic from what I can see.

The sitting-down adult cat in this pic is a mackerel and the standing-up one is a classic. The kittens are a mixture Grin

If this has turned into a gratuitous tabby photo thread, this is FatCat and the late SoupKitten. One brown, one ginger biscuit :)

Someone mentioned their leathers in defining colour - I'm a novice cat owner, one of my tabbies has pink nose and paws. What does that make her? Or is it just because she has white paws?
This thread has cheered me up tons tonight, thanks!

Btw, vet said she's grey (right) and her sister, on the left, is brown.

Both brown tabbies IMHO, Cheerfully. The pink nose and paw pads will be because of her white bits. The white-spotting gene means that some of her skin has no pigment and any hairs growing out of those areas are white. If they're bits that are fur-free, ie nose and pads, you just see the pink skin. They are both gorgeous, obvs Grin

Thank you, Gerund - I'm still learning about this genetics stuff Grin I suppose because she has loads of white, she might look lighter than she actually is.
