To expect DH to shower more than twice a month

IsItJustFuck1ngMe · 03/10/2016 22:31

As the title goes really. DH has become very shower averse now there is a slight nip in the air, and has confessed to a shower hiatus extending to 12 days Confused. Has dispensed with regular full showers in favour of a 'whores wash' in the sink.

Maintains he is clean, I disagree and thinking of picking him up and putting him in the shower. DAILY. Regardless of screams and tantrums.

I'm not BU am I? Hmm. Unless in fact is a gremlins and melts???

Lorelei
It's a very strong painkiller in patch form. If he gets in a hot shower/bath he could kill himself but even if it's cold then the patch won't stick and fall off and as it's a controlled drug he can't ask for more if they do fall off

NameChange10001 · 05/10/2016 22:19

Is he depressed? One of the symptoms of depression can be lack of bodily care.

nattygk · 05/10/2016 22:22

Give him a wire brush and bleach along with a dettol Rince

Agerbilatemycardigan · 05/10/2016 22:39

Definitely the best form of contraception that I'm aware of....Smile

My DP (58) was unfortunately diagnosed with dementia 18 months ago. He had developed an aversion to washing. It's disgusting but it was a sign of his undiagnosed disease. I thought he was disgusting. I now realise he was ill. Show your DH my post - ask him what his excuse is. It would be quicker for him to shower that budgie wash at a sink Hmm. I agree with other posts. No sexy time unless he is squeaky clean. How would he feel if you didn't wash daily Blush?

Lorelei76 · 06/10/2016 00:13

Sweetie, I see, but that means he can clean everywhere bar the patch - which op DH isn't doing.

9troubledwaters · 06/10/2016 00:16

I just had to go have a scrub after reading this thread!

Eiram49 · 06/10/2016 01:14

Dirty git!!!

Thatsmeinthecorner2016 · 06/10/2016 04:10

My maximum would be one day. Any longer and I feel manky. DH has a strong body odour hence daily showers are a must. Anything else would be a valid reason for a divorce.

engineersthumb · 06/10/2016 06:43

Yard broom, hose pipe and Ajax. Of course the MoD banned this but it worked so well. Perhaps one of the posters would benifit from this too1

Ausernotanumber · 06/10/2016 06:50

Why does the term have to be whores wash. That's totally misogynistic. Why not just strip wash?

He's still rank though.

AmserGwin · 06/10/2016 08:10

Disgusting!
And surely it is just as quick to have a shower than to stand by the sink with a cloth anyway? Hmm

Wendalicious · 06/10/2016 10:24

Every day is a must in our house- on a serious note when husband first had depression would lie around around in track suit bottoms and not be keen to wash, general lack on awareness and motivation, so I tried to enforce it!

MuseumOfCurry · 06/10/2016 14:49

Oh my god! Seriously? I'd worry that my husband were in the midst of a mental breakdown if he did this. It seems a lot like giving up a life. Gross. Poor you.

Thefishewife · 06/10/2016 14:51

I would not be having sex giving oral sex or sharing a bed with Somone who won't wash is foul

Thefishewife · 06/10/2016 14:52

Not washing is often a sighn of mental health issues op get him to the GP

My dh is a nurse and one of the first things to go is personal hygiene

MuseumOfCurry · 06/10/2016 14:54

I would not be having sex giving oral sex

I heaved a bit when I read that. Thanks. Wink

SlottedSpoon · 06/10/2016 15:17

Oh my God, can you imagine? Shock

KoalaDownUnder · 06/10/2016 15:19

Oral sex?!???

Jesus wept, his cock would be lucky to share a postcode with me.

elastamum · 06/10/2016 15:28

I agree that it sounds really odd in the context of a normal home but loads of people do this. Climbers, sailors, trekkers etc dont shower every day

My ex used to go ocean racing and they didn't shower for over a month. They had a wipe down with baby wipes every day and changed their thermals about every week. His kit absolutely stank when they go off the boat and it took several washes over a number of days to get rid of the smell. We had to freight it home as couldn't bear to put it in our luggage.

MuseumOfCurry · 06/10/2016 15:34

Climbers, sailors, trekkers etc dont shower every day

No doubt they'd trade their right arm for a shower after a few days.

largerleon · 06/10/2016 16:22

MilliontoOne my ex used to not use deodorant because 'the smell of sweat is attractive to women, it's been scientifically proven'... Hmm

Yes, I said, maybe fresh sweat but not minging BO from where you haven't used soap in the shower for weeks... (I found this last gem out after a little chat).

Now he's my ex even the children tell him he stinks when they see him!! Grin

Goldenhandshake · 06/10/2016 16:28

Oh christ he is gross.

Divorcable offence for me... 12 days? 12 DAYS!!!

He must smell like a badgers arsehole.

Lorelei76 · 06/10/2016 17:48

I've got one of those joyous cold/cough/fever bugs atm and I suddenly thought - you always hear how long cold viruses live on surfaces like your computer....but how long would they live on skin if you hadn't washed, I wonder?

I still shower daily with this sort of thing btw!!

LookingOldBeforMyTime · 06/10/2016 17:51

Just reading the title made my stomach churn. Only flick read the replies but I would regard ablutophobia as form of emotional abuse or a symptom of mental health problems.

12 days - my god his feet, what about his feet? You must be changing the bed sheets daily.

If he was still admitted to the house he would be lucky to get a bottle of shower gel and a gallon of Jeyes Fluid for Christmas.
