To expect DH to shower more than twice a month

As the title goes really. DH has become very shower averse now there is a slight nip in the air, and has confessed to a shower hiatus extending to 12 days Confused. Has dispensed with regular full showers in favour of a 'whores wash' in the sink.

Maintains he is clean, I disagree and thinking of picking him up and putting him in the shower. DAILY. Regardless of screams and tantrums.

I'm not BU am I? Hmm. Unless in fact is a gremlins and melts???

My dd hated showering or bathing until around a year ago. Im chronically ill and when I was too ill to fight that one, she got clean once a week, swam once or twice a week. Her hair was rather yuk by the end. Difference is she's 8. Now she wants to be clean every day. Yeh!

When I was really ill, I showered every other day to conserve my energy. I feel horrible in the nether regions if I don't get clean everyday. Your dh sounds like my brother when he was a teenager. He thought it was hilarious that he hadn't showered for 10 days .

Did you manage to get him in the shower last night and burn the sheets ?

CatNip2 · 04/10/2016 06:23

I didn't have a shower yesterday, worked from home a very long day and didn't get round to it, very very rare, I can smell myself this morning. 12 days is unbelievable.

TheNaze73 · 04/10/2016 06:41

That is proper grim. I'd refuse to go near him.

Whores wash used to be called a South London shower, when I was a teenager

ConvincingLiar · 04/10/2016 06:44

Grim.

CoconutAmericano · 04/10/2016 06:47

The smell of dirty scalp is one of the worst smells

CauliflowerSqueeze · 04/10/2016 06:54

It's repulsive. Soap is cheap and we have hot running water. Unless he has some mental health issues like depression, then it's disrespectful to you, to himself, to his kids, his workmates, commuters.

Sweat doesn't smell. It's the excrement of bacteria crawling over it that produces the small. Loooovely.

He wouldn't be in my house let alone bed.

Ugh. Daily showers should be the norm, unless you do not have access to one.

SeasonalVag · 04/10/2016 07:19

The phrase "whores wash" is as revolting as not washing!

madmother1 · 04/10/2016 07:22

My Nan calls it a "Wash Down" !

ToffeeForEveryone · 04/10/2016 07:32

Bleurgh. Dirty sod.

I would not be in a relationship with someone who fully washes only once a week.

He's gross, and should consider himself damn lucky that you've not thrown him out already. Sackable offence.

Shesgotelectricboobs · 04/10/2016 07:39

Gross.

MadamePeacock · 04/10/2016 07:43

I suffer with aquagenic pruritus so I only have a full shower twice a week. If I could get away with it, twice a month would be bliss. I do wash the smelly bits every day though.

Gwenhwyfar · 04/10/2016 07:44

"More than once a week I'd not overwashing."

The overwashers are the ones who have more than one shower a day. That should be something occasional, not a regular thing. Even showering every day dries out your skin. The only reason I aim for a daily shower is because I have very greasy hair. If it wasn't for that it would be every 2 or 3 days with washes in between.

Mombie2016 · 04/10/2016 07:45

ExH has gone a month before without a shower. Frequently, actually. Then had the gall to moan about our lack of sexy time Hmm

furryminkymoo · 04/10/2016 07:47

How often does he clean his teeth?

Gwenhwyfar · 04/10/2016 07:48

"Do you think swimmers have a compromised immune system because they're constantly washing the 'good bacteria' off their skin's surface? hmm"

I think it's likely that many swimmers suffer from dry skin, not only from being in the water so much, but also from chlorine. Even weekly swimming was too much for me.

GinIsIn · 04/10/2016 07:50

I'm sorry, I'm not a clean freak at all but that's DISGUSTING. If my DH took to only showering every 12 days, he'd find himself sleeping in the garden! Hmm

WaitrosePigeon · 04/10/2016 07:53

I would loose a lot of respect for my husband if he didn't look after himself.

I bet his dick stinks.

Marmalade85 · 04/10/2016 07:55

Reading this is making my skin itch

Snog · 04/10/2016 07:59

I wouldn't share a bed with him or have sex with him OP

Roussette · 04/10/2016 08:02

My belly button gets disgusting when I've done lots of ironing or standing in front of a hot oven

That's it. DH has to do all the cooking and ironing now because of my delicate belly button!

In answer to the OP - you sort of post like it's a bit of a laugh! Are you sure your DH isn't ill in some way? I would find it revolting.

As far as a 'whore's wash'.... surely it takes longer than a shower, I just don't get it. I shower in about 3 minutes flat (when not washing my hair which I don't every day). Yet a strip wash would take far longer surely.... draw water in sink. Get flannel. Soap it up. Soap up armpits. Rinse and soap up flannel/sponge again, soap up front and back bottom. Rinse flannel. Wipe off soap, probably needs doing twice - it would take ages! I'd be in and out the shower and dressed by then!

Olddear · 04/10/2016 08:09

He sounds disgusting. How often does he change the straw in his cage?

Only1scoop · 04/10/2016 08:13

Waitrose
Don't hold back
Made me spit my Lemsip out Grin

FledglingFTB · 04/10/2016 08:16

Simple. Shower twice a month OP. See how much he enjoys it. Grin
