To think that the practice nurse should think before speaking

I've just taken DS for his 8 week jabs and as I went in the nurse says hello and then asks who I am as I am "obviously not mum"!

Admittedly I am an older mum (I'm 44) and my hair is a little grey as I have started having allergic reactions to hair dyes but she made me feel absolutely ancient Sad

AIBU to think that she was a little out of order here? Luckily I am not suffering from PND but if I had been feeling down I think this would have really upset me it did tbh

It wasn't dumped on you

You saw the mug and chose to get offended

If she had turned round and said I hate my fucking job. All you miserable patients make my life hell then yes you would have a good reason to complain

milkyface · 21/09/2016 16:38

Providing medical services is not working at the check out or in an office. Have the feckin' mug in the staff room; feel shit; whatever- don't dump it on a patient.

Get a grip Biscuit

maddiemookins16mum · 21/09/2016 16:39

The mug complaint is one of the most ridiculous things I've ever read on this site, and I've read a fair few.

JudgeEpantz · 21/09/2016 16:39

Next time she's sticking a needle in me I'll ask her why she thinks it's ok to let me know how pissed off she is.

Floggingmolly · 21/09/2016 16:40

I'll bet that mug was a secret Santa gift. It may not have even been hers; she could have grabbed the first clean one she saw in the canteen. Of all things to feel offended about...

miaowmix · 21/09/2016 16:42

Christ. The mug. I've read it all.

milkyface · 21/09/2016 16:42

Next time she's sticking a needle in me I'll ask her why she thinks it's ok to let me know how pissed off she is.

It's a mug. Do you really have nothing more important going on to think about?

Headofthehive55 · 21/09/2016 16:42

Are there many people that prefer to work than shop then?

Soubriquet · 21/09/2016 16:42

I think if you said that to me I would jab you harder with the needle Grin

FruitCider · 21/09/2016 16:42

I've got 4 of those mugs Confused

Anyway the other day I suddenly realised I have a father and son residing at my work place in the same vicinity. I had been calling the son by his dad's name for 4 weeks Shock there is a huge age gap. Trying to figure out if I'm stupid or the son just looks hagged Grin

JudgeEpantz · 21/09/2016 16:42

I was very cheerful friendly patient- I make a point of being so to make the whole regular jab thing pass quickly.
In my job, if a front line member of staff had something so unprofessional on display they would be asked to remove it.

Headofthehive55 · 21/09/2016 16:44

Ooh judge what's your line if work that you prefer that to shopping?

JudgeEpantz · 21/09/2016 16:45

Thanks Sobriquet. Hope you're not a nurse.

Soubriquet · 21/09/2016 16:46

I'm not actually but hey ho

milkyface · 21/09/2016 16:47

Where do you work? Must take note so I never ever apply to such a bloody joyless place

PuppyMonkey · 21/09/2016 16:47

TBH, you've said it all in your title OP - she was probably kicking herself for not thinking first before she spoke.

JudgeEpantz · 21/09/2016 16:48

Just a boring office job. And there are plenty of things I'd rather do than be at work. But a hcp is supposed to make you feel at ease during an unpleasant procedure.

FruitCider · 21/09/2016 16:49

Unpleasant procedure? I tend to save that terminology for catheterisation or stitching someone back together, not an injection!

JudgeEpantz · 21/09/2016 16:50

Regular injection for MS. Not very nice at all.

FruitCider · 21/09/2016 16:50

Apart from pabrinex injections. They are terrible. I call them "unpleasant".

milkyface · 21/09/2016 16:50

Ffs did a mug really make you think she was going to butcher you or give you substandard service? Christ!

I think you're seriously overreacting and actually being ridiculous

Soubriquet · 21/09/2016 16:52

Anyone else wishing they knew the nurse so they could give them the most outrageous cup possible?

MuffyTheUmpireSlayer · 21/09/2016 16:52

I used to get this comment all the time with DD but the opposite way around. I was young and looked even younger and I used to get "perhaps we'll wait for your mum to get here" type of comments Hmm. No one seems surprised when they realise I'm her mum these days though, perhaps I need a few earlier nights! Grin

milkyface · 21/09/2016 16:52

Yes me Grin maybe one of those ones that looks like a plain mug but says wanker on the bottom

Soubriquet · 21/09/2016 16:53

Hah! Great minds think alike

I was thinking one that says "you're a cunt" at the bottom Grin
