"Let's clear something up right off the bat: I am trans. The reason this seems like a proclamation worth making is that, to the untrained eye, I may seem like your everyday New York City cisgender gay guy. I haven't had any hormones or facial electrolysis, and I don't have any boobs. But make no mistake: I am trans. I wear basically all women's clothing, makeup, and hairdos and I identify as a gender-fluid trans person"

So he is a man. He looks like a man, presents as a man, calls himself Nicholas, and does not refer to himself as a woman but he is upset that he was not allowed to change in the women's rooms despite being told that there were currently young girls in the room.

anotherprick that means you're a demisexual! That's under the 'queer' label you can go anywhere you like!

Pmsl at originalmavis.

Posting on a thread you aren't interested just sticks it in your watch list Drusilla. Personally I wish people would keep comments like yours to site stuff where MN will actually read them but it's a free forum.

Absolutely horrified that this adult thinks it's ok to share changing rooms with children/ young adults of the opposite sex/gender. This isn't a young person, he's a man in his thirties. Appalling, self centred creature.

BeyondASpecialSnowflake · 20/09/2016 23:23

Mn said only recently that they are not considering a trans topic. They said that they have only ever given new topics when those involved request them, not to banish a subject

MidniteScribbler · 20/09/2016 23:53

FFS. If you want to "identify as a woman" then get your fucking penis cut off. Until then, you're a man who likes to wear a dress.

acasualobserver · 20/09/2016 23:58

FFS. If you want to "identify as a woman" then get your fucking penis cut off.

And then that person would be a woman?

39up · 20/09/2016 23:59

Jesus Christ. What is it? Transphobia Day on MN?

boaks and hides another topic

WinchesterWoman · 21/09/2016 00:01

It's not transphobic to say a man is a man.

If anything it's tautological and rather trite.

littleprincesssara · 21/09/2016 00:01

Every day is Transphobia Day on MN.

WinchesterWoman · 21/09/2016 00:02

I agree. A man is still a man after surgery.

user1474404784 · 21/09/2016 00:08

'I identify as a gender-fluid trans person' - from what I understand, identifying as transgender means you identify as the opposite gender to the one you were assigned at birth, and identifying as genderfluid means you don't particularly identify with any gender and prefer to be on a spectrum. So those two terms contradict each other anyway?

MidniteScribbler · 21/09/2016 00:09

And then that person would be a woman?

No, they will be a transwoman. But I'm not prepared to accept anyone saying they believe themselves to be a woman but still want to retain their penis. If they want to be a 'woman' and have access to women's spaces like change rooms, then they need to make a full transition.

Lorelei76 · 21/09/2016 00:13

Madam, I wouldn't feel any different if this was a younger person.

It's a shame MN doesn't have a poster signature because I've said this a lot and I have a feeling I'll be saying it again - I realise my views on this might make me anti male but I don't believe they make me anti trans. But in my day, trans meant you'd had treatment.

I'm happy for men to wear dresses, my closest male friend wears dresses, make up, various wigs. But he wouldn't dream of using the women's facility anywhere.

And yes, I see the old "female clothing" rubbish is here, hardly throwing away centuries of conditioning thinking of those clothes as women's now is it.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 21/09/2016 00:15

Everyday isn't transphobia day

It's that more and more women are realising that their voices don't matter as much as a mans. A man decides he feels he is a women fine wear what you like dress how you want and use what ever name you choose but at least show respect and understanding towards the sex you claim to be or want to be and not just trample is. we really know what being a women is about and one thing we really need is to be able to protect ourselves and feel safe don't we have that right to that as much as transwomen/transmen do

LockedOutOfMN · 21/09/2016 00:19

Maybe UO and other shops should have separate changing rooms for children?

WinchesterWoman · 21/09/2016 00:23

Because men? So because of men, Mothers should be separated from daughters and fathers from sons? Because men?

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 21/09/2016 00:24

Or men's, women's and unisex

Though man transwomen want to be accepted as women so want to use the women's toilets/changing rooms

who gets that last say

I shall give you a clue the person with born privilege

WinchesterWoman · 21/09/2016 00:24

Anyhow what if I a grown woman don't want leery Larry in the next door cubicle. Don't I count?

MadamDrag0n · 21/09/2016 00:27

No Lorelei, I'm not sure I would either. This is one of those thing I've never come across in real life and had never considered, no doubt the longer I consider it the more objectionable I will find it.

EttaJ · 21/09/2016 00:40

Man . Plain as day. Fucking ridiculous. Arrogant knobjockey.

noeffingidea · 21/09/2016 00:48

Yes, urban outfitters were in the right. They are entitled to run their business as they see fit and if this individual doesn't like it they can find another place that suits them better. Target comes to mind. They have a policy of allowing customers to use the changing room/toilets of their choice. However, it seems to be hitting their profit margin as, strangely, many customers have boycotted Target as a protest.

noeffingidea · 21/09/2016 00:50

Oh, and good to see a business not giving into this kind of crap scam attempt at emotional blackmail.
