"Let's clear something up right off the bat: I am trans. The reason this seems like a proclamation worth making is that, to the untrained eye, I may seem like your everyday New York City cisgender gay guy. I haven't had any hormones or facial electrolysis, and I don't have any boobs. But make no mistake: I am trans. I wear basically all women's clothing, makeup, and hairdos and I identify as a gender-fluid trans person"

So he is a man. He looks like a man, presents as a man, calls himself Nicholas, and does not refer to himself as a woman but he is upset that he was not allowed to change in the women's rooms despite being told that there were currently young girls in the room.

That's bizarre. On that basis all my friends are trans!

Yes...and the link I posted.. aeon.co/essays/the-idea-that-gender-is-a-spectrum-is-a-new-gender-prison ..that one. Uses all the 'gender non-binary' 'special snowflake' ideas to disprove 'gender' entirely. It really is a marvelous piece of work and I don't see how anyone could argue against it. Conclusion...gender identity is total bullshit, all we have besides biological sex is a personality. All links tied up in one lovely bow. It seems to waffle a bit to start with though, but one its going, its great.

Also in stores if I have to try something on I always pick out a size larger than I am SO that I never have a stuck moment. It happened to my sister once and no way would I want it happening to me Blush

Don't all women's clothing shops sell bras?

OP posts:
JedRambosteen · 22/09/2016 08:08

A lot of clothing shops sell bras, but only some shops cater for women with smaller or larger cup/back sizes. People in the middle are well-catered for, though, yes.

strawberrybootlace · 22/09/2016 08:17

Monkey that article is really interesting.

Indeed. Having looked at UO's bras online last night, I can safely say that they would struggle to encompass my G-cup norks. They all look like training bras Confused

No.None of the shops I buy clothes in sell bras.

Nicholas is a man. Nicholas does not belong in the Female changing area.
Nicholas now has lots of publicity
Job Done.

DD3 was extolling the virtues of UO's dainty bras to DD4 for about a month, and was very excited when she was that they were having a sale. So I schlepped DD4 there, a little sceptical, and when we saw the offerings we chuckled about DD3's optimism and left to get some coffee. People in the middle are catered for and people who really don't need bras at all. DD4 and I ended up in a place called Graciela's Foundations.

That's not far off being called something like Sonya's Scaffolding. Grin

What happens when a women is stuck in a dress frantically inflating with the panic of being stranded with broke/ caught zipper and the thought of being evacuated from dress by scissors by staff

I worked in various women's fashion shops in my student days and you'd be amazed how many people get stuck in clothes. Not a week went by when I was helping some poor mortified lass wiggle out a corset.

It also happened to me in H&M with a corset and their bastarding tiny sizes Angry I had to be cut out with scissors Blush

Anyway I think there should be separate areas rather than little cubicles, I hate it when changing cubicles open onto the shop floor!

Absolutely. Totally agree. It's all bollocks (to coin a phrase).

This terminology problem..I have been thinking about it...

Sex
Men = biologically male
Woman = biologically female

Gender is different to sex. Sex/biology can be proven. As an experimental post... to please everyone, gender becomes entirely separate (like it used already with most people...). For example

feminine man - biological male who is stereotypically feminine (eg. wears dresses, likes makeup, soft natured etc)
masculine woman - biological woman who is stereotypically masculine (eg. doesn't like dresses/skirts, plays a lot of sport, hides feelings)

Not sure where I would fit into this as I have a mix of stereotypically feminine and masculine traits/interests. I guess this would make me 'a-gender'. So now I am an 'a-gender woman'. With this change I would bet most would be 'a-gender' as I can't imagine many people identify with EVERY feminine trait/interest or vice versa. We therefor lose the mixing up of sex and gender. Sorted?

OK, so now...a-gender being the 'norm' we don't feel the need to use a qualifier for this. So a-gender women become women. And a-gender men become men. Those who are rarer become 'masculine women' and 'feminine men'.

Sex segregated areas remain segregated on sex as they are now, not based on gender.

And everyone is happy yes?

When you sort out the terminology..it makes sense

Or of course, we could ALL acknowledge that 'gender identity' is nothing more than someones personality traits and clothing sense and stick to using biological sex

Mummyoflittledragon · 23/09/2016 16:51

Get what you're saying. Biological sex is good for me.
