To feel so fed up and stressed by the constant threat of another indyref

That's it really. I found the last one horrible, stressful and it permanently damaged some family relationships.

I do not want independence. I think it would be a disaster and not one I want me or my family to pay the price for. I do not want to bring my family up in an independent Scotland. I feel strongly that we would move to England should it happen, which means I can just never feel settled.

I thought we were done with this in 2014, I cannot tell you the relief I felt on September 19th 2014, that finally, it was settled.

But no, we are threatened with another one almost daily; next year, in two years, in 2020, when the polls show 60% support. I find it so worrying, I can't bear to go through all of that again then have to look at uprooting my family (don't want to out self by giving further details of job etc)

Agreed. I am so, so upset that it is dominating the news agenda. And, I hated it last time. If it wasn't for a few sound friends, and some Mumsnetters, plus DH, I would have run away to Canada or Northumberland....or anywhere. Can't face it again. Wish they would just fix education and stop dicking around.

I feel the same way, the thought of having to go through the whole experience again makes me feel so scared and quite tearful.
I wish the outcome of the first referendum was respected, it's not right to keep having them until the SNP get the answer they want.
My parents have already moved to England because they feel it is inevitable, it makes me so sad.

After experiencing the brexit referendum this year' I can totally empathise. I found it deeply unpleasant and stressful. Not nice. Is there a real threat of a Scottish independence vote on the cards? I know it was hinted at but has anything firm been set up?

I'm Scottish but don't live there. I thought I read recently that support for independence had gone down. My dps still live in Scotland and were so worried before the last referendum. But according to some people they don't have a right to an opinion because they are pensioners.

Strangely I feel threatened by the daily control by Westminster and the Conservative party. I feel threatened by the transport on public roads of Trident missles. I feel threatened by the people who voted for UKIP. I feel threatened by continued oppression.
Just my opinion though.

I'm Scottish and I don't feel the same at all. I don't personally know anyone who fell out with friends or family during the referendum, and I know a lot of fairly political people. I don't know anyone who would leave if Scotland became independent. I think there will inevitably be another referendum one day, but it doesn't worry me in the least. I've got plenty of other things to stress about!

I think that with the price of oil in the doldrums, and the EU categorically saying we cannot join independently of the rest of the UK, that a second ref will not happen for a long long long time.....

Just like the outcome of the brexit a decision was made and we have to live with it whether we agree with it or not.

I don't understand why the Brexit vote is final while the Indy ref isn't? Are the SNP intending to keep voting until they finally win?

There was another rally in George Square on Saturday which wasn't anywhere nearly as well supported as last years. Gives me hope.

I am the same. It needs to be put on a back burner for a good few years. This bloody nonsense by Nicola Sturgeon saying us Scots are being dragged out of the EU is total crap. She told voters up here if you want another indy vote vote remain therefore who actually knows if Scotland would have voted leave or remain she skewed our results for her and her party's own gain.

I voted no and will again. In 10 or 15 years I may change to yes but for now accept the settled will if the people of this country and please stop finding any old excuse to have another vote.

Yanbu. I hated indyref, it was awful. Divisions that have lasted. It'd be economic suicide. Nationalism is never a good thing.

assembletheminions the reason it's back on the cards is brexit, the majority of scots voted against leaving the EU and the snp always said it would be on the cards if there was a referendum on leaving the EU.

Yes Crafty Nicola Sturgeon was very clear vote remain and you will get an indy vote therefore how can we be sure Scotland would have voted remain had she not been shouting this from the rooftops. On many of the pro indy Facebook pages lots of folk are saying they only voted remain to get another shot at indy.

I'm Scottish but live in England, it's getting to the point that I feel unwelcome in my own country for wanting No. Admittedly, this is more from very Yes folk on FB etc, but the attack dogs come out if you say anything anti-SNP. Surely what we all need now is stability and calm, not fucking IndyRef2.

Nicola Sturgeon is not about Scotland.She is about independence and independence only. The MAJORITY of Scots do not want independence as was shown in a democratic vote. By ignoring this, she disrespects the people she claims to represent.

Last time I was against Scottish independence. I feltbit would weaken Scotland's position in the world.

If the UK does exit the EU though I would support Scottish independence and a route to Scottish membership of the EU.

I completely agree with you. I'm from Scotland - was living and working there at the time of the referendum. I now live in England - moved here with my job.

I remember what it felt like at the time, it was a horrible atmosphere and I said at the time I'd never want to go through it again.

I felt elements of it during the Brexit referendum, and I saw some pretty nasty arguments between friends, but it was nothing compared to Indyref. That was just vile. It made me so sad at the time.

I'm with you all the way on this. What frustrates me more than anything is that Nicola's rhetoric now about uncertainly, economic disaster etc post Brexit replaced it is the very thing they were willing to do to Scotland to gain independence. So it's fine if it means they win but heaven forbid someone else plays with the status quo eh. So unbelievably hypocritical.

Crafty yes I know the majority of Scots voted remain in Brexit, but they also voted to remain in the UK. One result can't be binding if the other isn't surely.

To say Indyref is more important than the economy is quite frankly, terrifying. The economy is what keeps the country running. The numbers just do not stack up financially,and she is benefitting from not being challenged publicly often enough. If she had to do a First Minister's questions against the calibre of Westminster's big hitters, it would be interesting. By constantly directing attention to Indyref and Credit she diverts questions away from thibgs which the SNP govt is not addressing - business rates, shocking state of roads and infrastructure, NHS Scotland, education....all deteriorating and brushed under the carpet
