To wonder who are these people who don't iron

And to wonder what their secrets are? I hear it all the time and have no idea how they manage it. It would be my idea of nirvana not to iron again.

School shirts and Hama beads only in this house. And that's school shirts only because ds is now at secondary school. Oh. And curtains on the odd occasion they're washed. Used to iron everything except underwear and towels. I broke habit when had a baby so scared of injuries, plus we'd moved house and I put the board down in basement. These days I only have one of those small Ikea boards
makes curtains a bit tricky. Oh and interview and party clothes. If they need it Grin

NoFuchsGiven · 16/09/2016 12:53

My Cleaner does my ironing but tbf, She only does the dc's school uniforms and some of dp's tops. Nothing else needs ironing as long as it is hung/folded straight from the line or dryer, I rarely use my dryer though so mostly straight from the line.

MyNameIsPenny · 16/09/2016 12:54

I'm a person who doesn't iron. Ever.
I take clothes out of the washer as soon as it's finished and hang, carefully. Hang up and put away as soon as dry.
We don't look too creased although probably not as smooth as we could but I hate ironing with a passion so I live with the odd crease.

NoFuchsGiven · 16/09/2016 12:54

I hang my curtains wet and let them dry from there sometimes Blush

TheFlyingFauxPas · 16/09/2016 12:55

I once had a boyfriend who had a very manly Black and Decker ironWink

MargotLovedTom · 16/09/2016 12:56

People aren't likely to say "Oh I can totally tell you don't iron!". Many white lies are told in the course of social interaction Wink.

MaisieDotes · 16/09/2016 12:56

< makes notes for whenever fabled curtain-washing may occur in Dotes household>

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 16/09/2016 12:57

Give crinkled clothes a bloody good shake straight out of the washer and hang to dry.

Develop a 'relaxed' personal style.

Introduce DH to a laundry service.

Don't own an iron Grin

thecatneuterer · 16/09/2016 12:57

I also mostly buy stuff with lycra in it and I'm not averse to wearing clothes with a few creases.

LavenderRains · 16/09/2016 12:57

I don't iron. I have a tumble dryer and fold things straight from there or the line.
Very occasionally I iron a 'posh' blouse for a wedding or something.
But everyday stuff, nope! Clothes aren't creased either.
I used to painstakingly iron my work uniforms then everyone at work said they just hung theirs up so that's what I do!

Justwanttoweeinpeace · 16/09/2016 12:58

Ooh. And buy a heated airer. Forgot that bit.

JamieVardysParty · 16/09/2016 12:58

I don't iron. I have someone who does it for me. She is an absolute angel sent by the Gods.

jay55 · 16/09/2016 12:58

I hang up my work dresses to dry. Shake out my jeans and never buy blouses or anything linen.

dementedpixie · 16/09/2016 12:59

I only iron shirts and school uniform items. I don't own a tumble drier so hang clothes on a clothes airer and put away afterwards

Tftpoo · 16/09/2016 12:59

I don't iron anything. DH does his work shirts. I think most things look ok if they've been hung up to dry. My DM irons everything, including tea towels and thinks I'm a right slattern. I don't have the time (three under three) and even if I did, I don't think I'd spend it ironing. It helps that I have low standards (if it's washed, it's wearable) and am not really too bothered what other people think!

Chinnygirl · 16/09/2016 13:00

Me! I wear dresses and hang them while still wet. Which is a good thing because I hate ironing! I do love washing though, and the smell of washing powder Grin

coffeetasteslikeshit · 16/09/2016 13:01

I also don't own a tumble drier... does that help with not ironing? I presume clothes come out of them quite creased?
I use a heated airer when it's raining, outside line if it's not.

FV45 · 16/09/2016 13:01

Secret of what OP?
What we wear? How it doesn't look creased? How much of a fuck we give? Grin

0hCrepe · 16/09/2016 13:03

I don't iron. Well last time was some clothes I sold on eBay over a year ago. Some things are a bit creased, that's the worst of it. I have a tumble dryer which I use apart from the stuff I dry on the line when it's sunny.

SemiNormal · 16/09/2016 13:03

What is an iron? Confused

TitaniasTits · 16/09/2016 13:03

Wotcha! I never iron. The kids and I wear creased clothes. DH sends his work shirts out to be laundered.

I'm sure we'd all look smarter if I did iron but that's not motivation enough for me to do it.

HamSandwichKiller · 16/09/2016 13:03

Get a husband that gives a toss about ironing. Sit back and watch him do it.

JellyBelli · 16/09/2016 13:04

I hang it up damp. I have a good excuse though, I'm disabled and the iron is too heavy to manage.
Yesss!

Sofabitch · 16/09/2016 13:05

just stop ironing then.

put clothes away straight out the drier.

they crease within a few minutes of wearing them anyway.

isittimeforcoffee · 16/09/2016 13:06

I don't iron. I use the tumble dryer, or hang things in the shower so the steam helps creases drop out.
