To call 111 for this?

Shamelessly posting here for traffic as it's getting late and I'm worried.

FTM here. DS is 4 weeks old and I've just found this as I undressed him for a late bath (he's very windy and I need to comfort him). Is this just baby acne and WIBU to call 111, or do I actually need to worry? Baby is fine in himself, no fever, usual mood and sleep patterns etc.

I should add I'm on antibiotics for mastitis.

It looks like a viral rash, but he's so little, I'd take him to be seen if I were you.

Agree with PP hospitals would rather check a rash put even if it turns out to be viral then not check and it turning out to be something worse.

If worried always call them my dd 3 weeks old had something very similar to this today for about 2 hours but it turned out I think to be heat related I think. I stripped her down and let her lay naked for a bit and held her until she slept (also colicky today) and after 20 mins it had gone.

I would get him seen for your own piece of mind. Does he have a temp, are his hands and feet warm or cold? Are you breast feeding? Would phone and get him seen tonight, hope everything is okay x

Don't bother with 111, just go straight to A&E. He needs to be seen, they cannot diagnose a rash over the phone and being only 4 weeks old should be seen urgently.

Yes call 101 straight away, always better to be safe than sorry, this is what it's for. I think they'll get you to go to a&E immediately anyway as he's so young. They won't take any chances with a baby in my experience. Let us know how it goes OP.

At that age, id go to a&e. It's probably viral or heat related, but he's very little and they'd always rather see a baby at that age.

I'd get him seen too. Did you change washing powder or put something in the bath? Anything detergent related you can think of?

Actually agree with Another stitch, might be quicker to go to a and e if you can. Whenever I phoned nhs 24, they always sent me to the out of hours GP anyway, when it comes to babies they should always be checked over x

Go to a and e. He's 4 weeks old - it's really hard to spot serious illnesses in young babies so you should always err on the side of caution. A and e will ALWAYS say you did the right thing to come in with a little baby.
My own dd2 had sepsis at 5 days old and luckily survived but only because we took her in for what seemed like minor symptoms (not feeding, grunting when breathing occasionally and mottled skin) and therefore were already in a and e when she went into organ failure. Not worry taking a risk if you are in any doubt imo.

I think for peace of mind I would have a professionals opinion. It is most likely nothing sinister at all but you need reassurance.

I Would get him checked. Even I got it's only peace of mind.
Have you taken his temp?
It could be heat related but you will be stressing if you don't get it checked out

Thank you so much. Have phoned 111. Waiting to be called back. Will get us ready to leave the house now. Yes I'm breastfeeding, and yes we went from water only to baby detergent in bath. I agree that it's better to be safe than sorry. Will keep you posted.

I would go straight to a&e I have been there with my DC's many a time for things that turn out so minor and trivial but I would never forgive myself if I didn't and it ended up being something. You need peace of mind. Also if your breastfeeding and taking antibiotics you definitely need to get him seen too. Good luck OP Flowers

Looks like a rash a lady from my antenatal class baby had. She called 111 and when she said her baby wasn't really feeding that day they sent a paramedic then she had to go to a&e. Baby same age as yours. For peace of mind I would call 111 but be prepared for them to send you to hospital. To be honest if I were you I would probably go anyway with him being so young you can't take chances. Hers was kept in overnight as she wasn't feeding and was given antibiotics and IV. Turns out was a virus. Hope everything is ok I'm a FTM too and I'm terrified of everything but let's us all be safe than sorry!! Xx

Pretty sure that's not baby acne. Sure it's nothing to panic about but def get him seen by a medical professional tonight.
