To call 111 for this?

Shamelessly posting here for traffic as it's getting late and I'm worried.

FTM here. DS is 4 weeks old and I've just found this as I undressed him for a late bath (he's very windy and I need to comfort him). Is this just baby acne and WIBU to call 111, or do I actually need to worry? Baby is fine in himself, no fever, usual mood and sleep patterns etc.

I should add I'm on antibiotics for mastitis.

Thank you.

Hope all is ok whatever the decision on whether to get her seen or not. Flowers

Hi, sorry for the delay - I've been back an hour but had to call worried mum/MIL and start feeding the baby.

111 called back as I was loading the car, they said I should go to A&E (although when I got there I was seen by Devon Doctors, not too sure how it works but it doesn't matter).

Baby is fine, they said it's either milk spots or a mild reaction to the antibiotics (penicillin) I've been taking for mastitis since yesterday. He doesn't have a temperature and he's happy and alert. The rash fades under a glass. Two different doctors looked at him, excellent service, and they saw me straightaway. DS weed on both of them - oops.

I've lived in this country 10 years and never used the NHS - this week I'm making up for it!!

Thank you for all your kind words of advice. It's good to know I wasn't overreacting.

So glad for you and babe!

VioletBam · 16/09/2016 04:01

Hope he's ok OP. I remember my youngest got a similar rash due to having been exposed to new detergent.

listsandbudgets · 16/09/2016 07:21

What a lovely update to wake up to. So glad he's been seen and you've been reassured

ThisIsPlanetEarth · 16/09/2016 07:24

Glad to hear it's nothing serious, what a relief. Never feel you are wasting anyone's time by getting him or anyone checked over. I had been a registered nurse for years when I had my DC but I always phoned up and took them to get seen if I was worried. Hope you got a rest x

MrsBobDylan · 16/09/2016 07:27

Thanks for updating, what a relief!Well done you for keeping your cool and cracking on with the situation.

Chikara · 16/09/2016 07:33

Always better safe than sorry with little ones.

The NHS really are fantastic. We never have to factor in the "can I afford it" question when making a decision like that.. When it's urgent and they have the resources they are great.

So glad for you OP. You did the right thing. Enjoy your lovely wee boy!

Bigfatnope · 16/09/2016 08:34

Yay glad things are ok. Never chance it with kids! X

listsandbudgets · 16/09/2016 11:28

How's your gorgeous cuddly boy now OP?

BurnTheBlackSuit · 16/09/2016 13:13

I am very pleased to read your update. Very glad you went to A&E to get him checked though.

If there is any change, or no change and you are still worried, pleased don't hesitate to get him checked again.

And don't worry about using the NHS for things like this, that's what it's there for.

strandedabroad · 16/09/2016 13:18

He's all fine thank you, the rash seems to have gone down a little. I'm keeping an eye on him! Thanks everyone for your interest!

I am glad that your DS is OK and at least now your mind is at rest.

I've lived in this country 10 years and never used the NHS - this week I'm making up for it!!
I am sorry but this comment puzzled me, where was your DS born and where did you have your ante-natal care?

I am thinking that maybe I misunderstood what you said!!

Libitina · 16/09/2016 19:20

I am sorry but this comment puzzled me, where was your DS born and where did you have your ante-natal care?

Why does it matter?

strandedabroad · 16/09/2016 21:31

Persian fair comment, he was born here and we had all antenatal care here (although some of it was private through choice). You're absolutely right, I did use the NHS there. I meant to say for emergencies/illnesses. Sorry I'm very tired and a bit frazzled!

lists thank you. I'm better, the antibiotics are definitely working. The pain has subsided a bit and feeding is going ok, I'm determined to make it work!

Why does it matter?
It doesn't matter at all but I was struggling to understand how the OP had managed to give birth to a baby in the UK without using any NHS services.

The OP is confirmed that she meant she had never been to the NHS in an emergency before, that is all.

You sound like you were offended by me asking the OP that but I hope that she wasn't as she politely replied.

PersianCatLady · 17/09/2016 00:40

OP - How is little guy now?

Looking and feeling a bit brighter?
