To buy a beauty advent calendar at £95-£150 ?

Hi guys ,

I've been wanting the Selfridges advent calendars(£95) since they started doing them but could never part with the money . This year, I'm seriously considering buying it or the Charlotte Tilbury one (£150). It will be out in October and usually sells out quick and then I'll need to get it on Amazon for extortionate prices - so, I need to decide pretty quick if I should put money aside for one of them.

Has anyone bought either previously? Are they worth the money? Would you aplurge and treat yourself for Christmas?

I had a Yankee Candle advent calendar last year and was dithering toddy over whether a posh pork scratchings one was self indulgent nonsense.

I'm taking this thread as a sign! (I'm not much of a make up person although the thought of a Benefit Advent Calendar did give me pause).

Belwas Don't blame me, I ended up buying it from the christmas bargain thread Xmas Hmm and I had to order one for my sister as she would go mad if she saw mine. Worth it though, I'm excited already Xmas Grin and I normally miss days of my chocolate one because I'm not really a chocolate fan

I don't even think I can get a hotel chocolat one this year 😔

Come one lottery... I'm so buying 5 different ones if I win the jackpot

I got DD a nice one last year for a tenner in Wilko. Won't get away with that this year though, it'll have to be Benefit at least!

I review them and have gone up to the £60 ones in last few years but think I'll get selfridges one this year too. Keep an eye out for lookfantastic, Youbeautydiscovery and m and s ones though as always well worth it.

The only thing is.... You might not need/want all of the products. I got given a beauty advent calendar last year (can't remember the brand) and while all of the products were lovely and good-quality, a few of the things weren't things I would use, e.g. A hair mousse for dyed blonde hair when I have natural brown hair.

That said, even if you only use say 18 of the 24 products, it would probably still save a lot of money over buying the same products individually Grin

M and s sell out fast though when released online. 12 hours last year. Benefit even faster... An hour maybe too

MiddleClassProblem you do the normal Emoji, but you put f between [ and the word eg smile Xmas Smile so it's fsmile closed in brackets

Have just had a quick Google and it's only 12 "doors"

Sorry I'd sooner spend the money on stuff of my own choosing?

I had the stationery one last year and I loved mine I've already ordered another for this year. I also get the monthly stationery box.

I got a bath bomb one from bomb cosmetics as well last year but I wasn't impressed I ended up giving it to the kids to play with in the bath. Will definitely be looking at some of the suggestions here.

Have had the Selfridges one and the Benefit ones in the past when funds permitted - lovely. Last year tried the MUA one - it was reduced to £25 in Superdrug - very nice but had to give some stuff to DD as some of the colours didn't suit me but all the MUA stuff was full size - good value reduced but not so much a full price of £40 as I think the the total of the contents cost less than that.

Must say the joy of the Selfridges and Benefit ones is definitely in the opening - lovely things (except the Benefit ones couple of years ago that had 25% stationery and hair slides nonsense - I complained to Benefit) in small sizes. Lovely to try some new things.

My birthday's in Nov so a couple of years ago I asked my Mum for the Liberty calendar and it was a huge treat opening it every day through December. However, I am growing in beauty minis (sucker for gift with purchase) so am going to have to give it a miss for at least a few more years. Go on, OP, treat yourself

Sensible approach here mind, if your having to ask maybe it's a bit much of a treat otherwise you wouldn't doubting your desire to have one.
