AIBU?

To buy a beauty advent calendar at £95-£150 ?

Hi guys ,

I've been wanting the Selfridges advent calendars(£95) since they started doing them but could never part with the money . This year, I'm seriously considering buying it or the Charlotte Tilbury one (£150). It will be out in October and usually sells out quick and then I'll need to get it on Amazon for extortionate prices - so, I need to decide pretty quick if I should put money aside for one of them.

Has anyone bought either previously? Are they worth the money? Would you aplurge and treat yourself for Christmas?

I'm suddenly feeling very deprived as the Liberty one is sold out already. Sad
I didn't even know they existed a few minuted ago and now I can think of nothing else.

So what do we reckon would be a nice on for a 20ish year old, the liberty one is probally not her thing, she likes benefit but she also likes nicer stuff?

Bemore what do you mean sold out ?? It hasn't come out yet ! (Has it ??)

Needsasock she's about my age - any reason she wouldn't like Liberty? The Selfridges one should be good but heavily concentrated with Lancôme this year (does she like it?) There is always the benefit calendar or CT one which most people like.

I bought the m&s one last year, and shared the spoils with my mother and daughter. The packaging was lovely, I kept it, and this year, when I've been travelling, I've bought miniature bottles of gin, whiskey, vodka etc. And stashed them in the boxes. So I now have a wonderful complete booze calendar to enjoy this December.

Needsasock then the benefits one is the way to go. Charlotte tilbury is also makeup and high end so that would be good too.

Melanie that's a great idea ...hope u enjoy it

I think as long as you are going to use the stuff behind each door and you can honestly afford it then YANBU.

I had a Yankee Candle one last year. I was a little bit Hmm at paying £25 for an advent calendar, but I made a point of lighting a candle every night and taking some time out to relax and it was lovely.

I bought a Yankee Candle one for this year half price in the January sales. I'm excited already! I also bought a Ciate nail varnish one in TK Max which DD and I are going to share (she also has a chocolate one).

If you look closely on the Liberty site it says 2015. What date do they usually go on sale. This years aren't out yet for any brand.

Can't you collect those free samples they give in magazines, or sometimes at the beauty counter... get 24 and make your own calendar and ... job done! £90 saved!

It's not as fun as the surprise and the beautiful decorations and I think you do get better than the standard free samples from a mag.

You can get the full your own calendars but it's not so fun doing it for yourself

I've been lusting after the L'occtaine one for a couple of years. Last year I tried to get one too late - this year I'll be ordering it as soon as it comes out and I've been putting a little bit aside every month so have all the cash ready and waiting :)
