To buy a beauty advent calendar at £95-£150 ?

Hi guys ,

I've been wanting the Selfridges advent calendars(£95) since they started doing them but could never part with the money . This year, I'm seriously considering buying it or the Charlotte Tilbury one (£150). It will be out in October and usually sells out quick and then I'll need to get it on Amazon for extortionate prices - so, I need to decide pretty quick if I should put money aside for one of them.

Has anyone bought either previously? Are they worth the money? Would you aplurge and treat yourself for Christmas?

InfiniteSheldon · 31/10/2016 08:05

Oh it looks gorgeous the packaging is amazing

HemanOrSheRa · 31/10/2016 08:12

My Look Fantastic calendar arrived on Friday. It's HUGE! And very pretty. I decided against the Liberty one in the end. Although I was checking the website at midnight and throughout the night on the 26th Blush. I'm going to get an M&S one instead.

buckeejit · 31/10/2016 08:13

My dh came home last week and announced that he's ordered me the Liberty one, squeee!!

So excited. Will gift what I don't want. I've ordered the look fantastic one too :)

ssd · 31/10/2016 08:13

theres only one thing I'd love to have more than any of these above, and thats someone who would buy me one of these.

Nanasueathome · 31/10/2016 08:52

The Liberty one has sold out in line
I am sat here gazing at mine.....

It strikes me that the companies should be taking heed of this phenomenon. What do women want? They want lots of small beauty items, packaged beautifully. Why wait til Christmas? I bet they could sell themed boxes all year round. For the price of a luxury beauty item, try ten. And don't make us buy 'two items, one to be skincare' either. Bonus points for mixing brands, and including high end and drugstore.

buckeejit · 31/10/2016 09:39

Aww ssd - Morris there are lots of monthly subscription beauty boxes. I really recommend the qvc one - 'tili' short for try it love it - its not a subscription, just a single purchase box and great value at £20

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 31/10/2016 12:33

They are taking notice. I've reviewed these since 2012 and compared to 2012 there are loads. When I started there was only youbeauty and benefit from what I can recall.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 31/10/2016 12:36

The best beauty sub for me was memebox. It was kbeauty box and I got them from quite early on until they closed for uk subs. I miss it and best thing was that it introduced me to wierd and wonderful beauty like cheese creams and sheet face masks.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 31/10/2016 12:37

lol I have to watch as so close to outing myself.

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 31/10/2016 12:38

Just a word to the wise m and s sells out fast online. Was about six or seven hours last year. Not as fast as benefit but pretty fast.

AnneLovesGilbert · 31/10/2016 12:50

When's the M&S one out?

My No7 one for my sister arrived. I looked at the contents and it wasn't for me but she'll absolutely love it.

Ubertasha2 · 31/10/2016 12:51

Ordered a Liberty one a few days ago- can't really justify it, not really a beauty person etc, and was thinking about putting it on eBay- they're up for £300 plus, but I don't think I can because.....

It is BEAUTIFUL. Will probably gift products to friends and familia, but I just love the exterior, and trying to tell myself that at least I didn't go for the Jo Malone one which is £100 plus more!

Sundaysmumisfullofwine · 10/11/2016 04:59

Ordered the M&S one. Hope it's as good as last year

KoalaDownUnder · 10/11/2016 05:34

I could never justify the cost, but that Liberty one is soooooo beautiful Envy

Katkincake · 10/11/2016 17:44

My liberty one arrived last week and has sat in its box since. Told DH about themselling for £300 on eBay, he said sell it and get something else for the £s but think I'm going to keep it, can't wait till the 1st

sarsar123 · 11/11/2016 14:38

These advent calendars look great! I don't think i would buy my self one. But would love one as a gift! Especially the Decléor Advent calendar!
