To buy a beauty advent calendar at £95-£150 ?

Hi guys ,

I've been wanting the Selfridges advent calendars(£95) since they started doing them but could never part with the money . This year, I'm seriously considering buying it or the Charlotte Tilbury one (£150). It will be out in October and usually sells out quick and then I'll need to get it on Amazon for extortionate prices - so, I need to decide pretty quick if I should put money aside for one of them.

Has anyone bought either previously? Are they worth the money? Would you aplurge and treat yourself for Christmas?

Hi all, I've been lurking (and loving) this thread & I just wanted to share with you that Boots have launched the No7 calendar a day early - I just got an email to say they're available online, checked & yes they are Smile

My partner and I get each other advent calandars every year and is somewhat one of our traditions. The last 3 years in a row I have been a little lazy and purchased the Selfridges one, however she does always like it, although not cheap it's not overly expensive considering the contents and thus if you can afford it, I'd certainly recommend the item. This years arrived yesterday as I purchased on release date as they do often sell out quickly (then the eBay profiteering commences which does frustrate me)

I was planning on buying the liberty one this year, but I have just bought a house so funds are tight!!!

OneInAMillionYou · 26/10/2016 05:46

The Liberty one is live on their site now.

I've ordered one for a special friend who has had a rough year with various health issues. Mornings are tricky for her as she recovers, so I thought having a lovely parcel to open every day in the run up to Christmas would be a cheering start to the day.

I've also bought some of the other brands to give as Christmas presents. I think they are a great idea and excellent value if you choose carefully.

I made a 0530 purchase, I did briefly wake at 0330 and considered getting up then to do but restrained myself !

OneInAMillionYou · 26/10/2016 08:52

I think it went live about 4am, I had been refreshing the page since midnight 😂

BeyondTheSea · 26/10/2016 08:57

So pleased I didn't get up !

MinniesAndMickeysNeedCounting · 26/10/2016 13:31

I ordered the no7 one yesterday, bought the aldi one which I'm going to share with my dh, thinking about getting the m&s one as well, will be saving one as my Christmas present because I am being a bit greedy having 3 Blush

Spice22 · 26/10/2016 15:50

Can you believe I've decided not to get it ? Feel like it'll lead to cluster so I treated myself to full sized makeup products instead. BUT after reading these comments, I now want one again !

Does any one know when the M&S one is out?

I was going to get the No7 for the DDs again but it looks pretty much the same as last years.

Katy07 · 26/10/2016 17:31

Yes YABU because you could be buying multiple Cadbury's Dairy Milk Advent calendars for that amount AND several doggy calendars too Grin

Happyranter · 26/10/2016 17:40

Ooh if you';re going to spend 95- 100 quid on an advent calender may I recommend this instead :-)

My liberty one has been ordered by DH today - can't wait, though it will be my only Xmas present this year. He says it's the first time ever he's bought an Xmas present in October!

MathsFiend · 26/10/2016 20:30

Ordered the liberty one today . But on DH's credit card as a birthday present pour moi. See what mumsnet have done to me?! Last year I swithered over the m&s one at £25!

QOD · 26/10/2016 23:31

Finally managed to order no it's no 7 last night

QOD · 26/10/2016 23:31

The liberty one is on line £165 available now

perditalost · 27/10/2016 02:26

Sorry- I meant still available. Im sure it sold out faster last year.

salsmum · 27/10/2016 02:41

House of Fraser has one for £20 originally £25.

grimupnorthLondon · 27/10/2016 15:45

I ordered the Liberty one - entirely Mumsnet's fault. I hadn't even heard of beauty advent calendars until this thread came up and now I am poorer but very excited about its arrival!

MsRinky · 28/10/2016 11:36

My Liberty one has just arrived. Will have to hide it away to remove temptation to peek. It is beautiful.

DustOffYourHighestHopes · 31/10/2016 07:11

Mine hasn't arrived yet and I'd paranoid it won't! It is sold out now on the liberty website and selling for £300+ on eBay (decent turnover... but I don't like the idea of doing that myself)

beebeautiful · 31/10/2016 07:38

After seeing this I'm thinking about buying the Selfridges one too! Go for it!
