Hi guys ,

I've been wanting the Selfridges advent calendars(£95) since they started doing them but could never part with the money . This year, I'm seriously considering buying it or the Charlotte Tilbury one (£150). It will be out in October and usually sells out quick and then I'll need to get it on Amazon for extortionate prices - so, I need to decide pretty quick if I should put money aside for one of them.

Has anyone bought either previously? Are they worth the money? Would you aplurge and treat yourself for Christmas?

Link to the 2016 ones, they all look fab. If you can afford it, go for it! Ive got a bomb cosmetics one and torn between loccitane and rituals (one just isnt enough). I dont wear makeup but if you feel the price is reasonable buy it.

I was tempted to get this just because it looks cool but woukdnt use it. www.reallyree.com/2016/09/too-faced-grande-hotel-cafe-palette-swatches

I had the selfridges one last year it was brilliant! Lots of mini perfumes as well as high end skincare and beauty.definitely worth it. I would never get the benefit one again - as someone said upthread was 25% stationery and hair clips.
There is a Kiehls one this year that looks good

The Liberty one has a FULL SIZED BAIES DIPTYQUE CANDLE Shock. That is my favourite scented candle in the whole world and the calendar itself is so gorgeous. I really need it.

I have now Heat. I was stupid enough to click on the link Ceaser posted Grin. I've spent the last 50 mins or so googling beauty advent calendars. The hoohah over the M&S one went straight over my head last year. But they are all so lovely. Off to look at stationery ones now.....

These are so amazing.

Stupid question, though - do you give them as a present 12 days before Christmas so that people can open them in the run up, like a normal advent calendar?

Posting again, this is the Stationery advent calendar I have ordered

A couple of years ago, I got the Boots one.............two of the compartments were EMPTY Angry

I waited until it was after the 24th then took the whole thing apart in the hope that the missing items had slipped out,, they hadn't.
The calender hadn't been damaged/opened and I had no way of proving the items were missing. One was the Protect &Perfect Day Cream,.

Rain, you can do what you like with them! If you wanted to give them as a present, then in advance of the 12/24/25 days would make sense.

I had Benefit 2 years on the trot - not worth the money - big M&S last year and it was lush. I might go Liberty this year...

The M&S one looks like it has some fabulous treats in it this year!

The M&S one does look good, contents wise. But the Liberty one is so beautiful to look at. Decisions, decisions. I must say it is good to have a fun and frivolous dilemma for once Grin.

All worth a look

The Liberty one could be repurposed for life, dare I say it could form part of a hallowed 'Christmas Tradition'.

So it's a sensible investment if you love your kids.

You make a very good point Morris. And there was I, selfishly working out that for roughly the same price as the Liberty box I could get the Rituals, M&S and LookFantastic (which does) ones. What was I thinking? DS will be thrilled!

The m and S one is sold out? Or has it yet to go on sale?

Report
HemanOrSheRa · 17/09/2016 19:27

I think it goes on sale on 10th Nov Pattie. I believe it's £35 with £35 worth of purchases.

My sister bought the Boots one last year and gave me all the samples she didn't like, which was a bonus.

She didn't encounter any empty doors though, 70isa, that sort of shit can ruin your Christmas. What a let down.
