To buy a beauty advent calendar at £95-£150 ?

Hi guys ,

I've been wanting the Selfridges advent calendars(£95) since they started doing them but could never part with the money . This year, I'm seriously considering buying it or the Charlotte Tilbury one (£150). It will be out in October and usually sells out quick and then I'll need to get it on Amazon for extortionate prices - so, I need to decide pretty quick if I should put money aside for one of them.

Has anyone bought either previously? Are they worth the money? Would you aplurge and treat yourself for Christmas?

Hello lovely Mumsnetters - here at MNHQ we're also lusting after pretty much all of these EnvyGrin

So much so in fact, we've put together a page about the best ones to buy based on your recommendations! You can see it right here and there's also a chance to win a Body Shop one for yourself too, so do go ahead and enter!

We'll all just have to live vicariously through you lot this December Smile

I'm not sure if this is of any interest to anyone but Aldi have released a beauty advent calendar for £19.99 HERE The lacura stuff is quite good actually.

Has anyone bought the Charlotte Tilbury one? Had a look online, but it is a lot for only 12 items, most of which are miniatures.

Having said that, the liberty one looks good for the same price......

Idliketobeabutterfly · 13/10/2016 13:33

Never have but some bloggers may have blogged about it last year.

MunchKim · 15/10/2016 10:07

Thanks to everyone's input on here I now have the L'Occitane and Sanctuary Spa calendars waiting for the 1st Dec and a stationery one on pre-order. I never knew there were so many and there's still the M&S one to come that's tempting me, not sure about that one yet as already feeling a little guilty over having 3! It's so nice to be able to find ones easily that aren't mostly cosmetics :-D

MorrisZapp · 15/10/2016 10:13

Thanks Hannah!

Whocansay · 15/10/2016 10:15

Has anyone bought the Clinique one? Am very tempted!

Whocansay · 19/10/2016 20:03

I just bought the Selfridges one. Couldn't say no!

I only got m and s last year and only no7 in 2014 but I enjoyed both and I'd say it depends on if you happy with one brand or want a variety. This year I'd go no7 but only because I missed it last year

AnneLovesGilbert · 21/10/2016 09:51

Was there one which was going on sale today? I had 21 October in my head for some reason! Currently eyeing up the No7 one, looks fab. Do you know if it'll be one per person?

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 21/10/2016 10:30

No 7 was today I think

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 21/10/2016 10:30

I can't remember no 7 ever being one per person

Tomorrowillbeachicken · 21/10/2016 10:32

Nope 26th

AnneLovesGilbert · 21/10/2016 10:32

I started off buying my kids this kind of calendar as an early Christmas present. Last year, my son was getting lots of Toot Toot Drivers stuff, so he got a Toot Toot calendar. This year he's getting Playmobil. Although they are obviously a lot more expensive, I like the fact he still plays with the contents daily, almost a year on.
He got a Santa's sleigh which now lives in the Toot Toot fire station, loads of road signs and other bits that enhanced his main Christmas present.
My daughter has had LEGO ones the last two years, this year, she's into stationery so she's getting a Smiggle one (and I've got a LEGO one for all of us as we've started building a LEGO Christmas village).
Last year I had Yankee Candles.
If you can afford it, it's a great way to treat yourself to something you might not otherwise justify buying.
