To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

Urgh, posted before attaching link. This is my one:

I will never go back to a normal iron

Florin I completely understand. I've just moved mine from a wonderful prep school where there were 7 in her class to a state school, class of about 30. The biggest thing we've noticed is the quality( or lack of) communication from the teachers. If we had the money I wouldn't hesitate in keeping all of mine at the prep school. Much nicer children too.

My Mac it has enabled me to work from home, build a business and have a job I love. It's paid for itself many times over. I am now going to start buying a MacBook to go with it.

RunningLulu · 20/09/2016 09:26

Private school for the kids (it's a huge chunk of my income, and we had to make sacrifices elsewhere but I think it's been worth the money).
My bag
Iphone 4 (had it for 6 years and it's still going strong)
Iphone 3g (had it for 8 years and it's still going strong)

LowMaintenance101 · 20/09/2016 12:21

ThriftyMama - thanks so much. Such good timing as my current (bog standard) iron is about to give up the ghost.
So far I am in for this, an underwater camera and a Phillips Lumea!

Jaeger coat, bought 19 years ago, worn every winter except during pregnancy, still looks like new. It cost a fortune back then I could have bought 5 coats for the money. I still love it.

I also have a Wishlist from this thread - the robot Hoover is top of the Xmas list 😊
Just remember to clean it frequently. I usually clean mine at the end of each use - it has a nifty self cleaning feature. My last one lasted 7 years - would probably have lasted longer but I got lazy with the cleaning - that one was a pain to clean.

hand built fitted bookshelves - they are beautiful - i find myself stroking them a lot

Swannyakazoo · 20/09/2016 13:46

I knew this thread would be trouble....desperately wanting a Dyson robovac now

Purplebluebird · 20/09/2016 13:47

Some gorgeous high heeled boots. Well worth the £80 they cost, I love them!

itsmeyouknow · 23/09/2016 14:50

Thermomix - without a doubt a brilliant machine and I use it pretty much daily. Basic example is a risotto or a good cheese/white sauce, you just chuck it all in and it does it, stirring and heating. You don't need to stand over it and can do other things. It also cleans itself. It's not amazing for making dough but it does do it (texture is a bit samey)

Bugaboo Cam 3 - I panicked over the buying of this particularly as loads of folk told me to buy a cheap bassinet and then a MacLaren. I absolutely love it, it's so easy to manoeuvre, looks amazing and it's so well thought out.

Sleepyhead - yes, a £100 pillow but I got unbroken nights sleep from about 6weeks old. Resale is amazing as got half back. Now deciding if I should trade up to the bigger version or sleep train. Mummies who used sleep trainers - any good?

AndNowItsSeven · 23/09/2016 14:53

My mattress £1200 , I have a chronic health condition and spend a lot of time on it.

DiJiBiDi · 23/09/2016 21:21

My Coco Chanel perfume cost over a 100£ (still can't bring myself to use it) it smells divine!

Sal4533 · 23/09/2016 21:23

My Apple Watch Smilelost without it!

KatharinaRosalie · 23/09/2016 21:27

I haven't used my steam generator iron since I got one of those. I often took things to dry cleaners because it would have been impossible to iron them. Not any more - dresses, work suits, it handles everything

If you have (long haired) pets, you need the 7 or 800 series Roomba. Older versions have normal brushes that get tangled with pet hair. From 700 they have silicone brushes, much easier to clean.

KatharinaRosalie · 23/09/2016 21:42

No sorry I meant 8 or 900 series.

IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 23/09/2016 23:58

DiJiBiDi use it! If you leave it on a shelf then the sun and warmth will change the smell and it'll be a total waste! Use it and enjoy it!

(I have 1 £100 bottle of perfume, Not for everyday but I do use it and in fact put a spray on before bed...it felt so decadent!)

derxa · 24/09/2016 04:15

A breeding tup and 20 gimmers. No change from £6000. They look very well in the field.

Whizzyloofah · 24/09/2016 08:32

My North Face coat! I would never have paid the £100 for it over 10 years ago, so was bought it as a gift. It has kept me so warm every winter, and is one of the most comfortable things I've ever worn. As an added bonus, they now cost (depending on where you get it from) about £180!

RedBlu · 24/09/2016 09:09

Wow, some of these are crazy money!

Mine would be;

Our house, we were renting a crappy HA flat before we bought our house. Our mortgage is double what our rent was, but it's worth it

Our cats, cost £400 each but I love them and they are my fur babies

Dyson V6 cordless vacuum - love it, no more cables

Apple Products - I have iPad, iPhone, iMac, Apple TV, Apple Watch - all brilliant and couldn't do without them

ihatethecold · 24/09/2016 21:26

I've just been out on a whim and bought a brand new Mini Cooper. Grin
I'm so excited. and in debt
