To ask what expensive thing you have which you think was well worth the cost?

I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

A retractable 30M hose.
Amazing. No more kinks or winding up a wet muddy hose.

My cordless vacuum - makes me want to clean
My MacBook I've yet to have a day where I don't use it
My Dslr camera I get too much of a thrill out of taking 'proper' photos of my son even if my husband moans that I'm always taking photos!
However all of these will be irrelevant the day I get my Christian Louboutin shoes 😍

Wheelchairgal · 12/09/2016 20:43

I spent £6,000 on a four wheel drive wheelchair that was only a few weeks old when the previous owner died suddenly. It would have cost £15,000 new so was a complete bargain. I use it everyday to take my dog out and to go shopping. My dog has probably cost me more as he's chronically ill but he's definitely worth the money.

My driving licence

Thousands of pounds over eight years. Numerous resits of both practical and theory. Two cars, first one bought to learn in. Mental strain of the severe anxiety surrounding it

That little piece of card is so fucking precious to me

goddessoftheharvest · 12/09/2016 20:52

I'm also taking note of some of the stuff PP have posted about. I don't have a lot of money but am happy to save for good quality items that are worth it. The problem these days is that even some expensive things turn out to be tat, and price doesn't always equal quality

WetPaint4 · 12/09/2016 20:53

My education. Wouldn't have my career without it. Borrrring but true.

munkisocks · 12/09/2016 21:00

MrsDeVere - I don't think there's anywhere it can't go. Have a look at www.magicmobility.com.au/wheelchair/extreme-x8/ It's been life changing x

AdmiralData · 12/09/2016 21:31

Wheelchairgal That is a cracking bit of kit! Still can't get over that price tag though.

Cameron07 · 12/09/2016 21:34

My mulberry handbag bought two years ago and used every day and still looks new ( I love it)

Wheelchairgal thats' an amazing bit of kit, I am so pleased you have one. About 25 years ago my brother and I were struggling to much my dad round some woods. We're both mountain bikers, and and mentally designed pretty much what you've got. Obviously we took it no further, so I am so glad t exists and you love it.

moreginrequired · 12/09/2016 21:42

sounds pious but mine is my health, I have crohns and having not always stayed in the UK, treatment can be extortionate, cannot big up the NHS enough....

material goods would be
LK bennett heels
chanel foundation
Aerin Jasmine EDT I feel like i smell and look 1million dollars with both

I also love my stellar pots and pans and prestige pressure cooker

Bambooshoots14 · 12/09/2016 21:44

I have 4 mulberry bags and a purse until I left it in Aldi and while I love them I really wouldn't say they will last years. They look as tatty as a normal leather bag would. Although I haven't bought cheaper bags since so maybe they do save money in the long run

Ps not a stealth boast, I'm just shit with money!

Blondeshavemorefun · 12/09/2016 21:47

Wheelchair looks amazing and has Obv made your life so much easier

I don't think you can put a price on that - but you certainly got a bargain

Thanks everyone else who said congrats. Sorry on phone so can't name check easily but I See so many names I 'know' xxx

Turquoisetamborine · 12/09/2016 21:53

My £12k IVF baby. Sometimes I look at him laughing (he's an eccentric baby even at 16 months) and think without us pushing and pushing to get you, you would never have been born and the world would have been a poorer place. Thank you science.

MargotLovedTom · 12/09/2016 21:55

Miele washing machine. Cost nearly a grand, and DH almost had a heart attack at the price, but I think it'll see both of us out.

AddToBasket · 12/09/2016 21:56

DH's Le Chameau wellies. They have seriously lasted for years under pressure as he wears them several times a week and puts them through a lot. He's due a replacement pair soon - I think they were about £350.

Quite excited that you all love Dualit toasters, I've been wondering about investing in a good toaster and kettle. We have supermarket cheapies but I might start saving...

JeSuisUnChocoholic · 12/09/2016 21:57

LoopiusMaximus · 12/09/2016 22:06

Icandy peach 3 double pushchair - over £1,000. Awful, clunky thing!
Louis Vuitton speedy - first ever work bonus
Ergo baby carrier - best money ever spent
Decent shoes for my bunion ridden feet!
Speeyhead baby mattress - second best money ever spent
Bmw
Waterproof Barbour international
Jbrand jeans - worth every penny
Living room furniture

FasterThanASnakeAndAMongoose · 12/09/2016 22:08

Sorry to derail but what is it about Miele washing machines? I doubt my AEG will last much longer and I'm intrigued to know if/why it'd be worth investing.
