I got my bugaboo out of the garage today. It's nearly ten years old and I'm giving it to my sister for her baby. I can't believe what good nick it's in. Everything fabric wise can be washed, I've ordered one new wheel and tilt buttons because they were a bit dodgy but everything else is perfect. I've also ordered a new mattress obviously. I think it's fab that you can go on the bugaboo site and order parts for something nearly a decade old.

What do you have that was expensive but so so worth it.

ChiefClerkDrumknott my horses cost
me a fortune to keep, so I suppose they count too, they didn't cost a lot to buy tho.....I go for the broken 'in need to backing' usually bought from Beeston horse sale type 😂

Nelleflowerpot · 12/09/2016 15:59

Burmese cat soo worth the money!
Good quality baby items that have lasted 3 children.
Nice makeup actually does make me feel better about myself.
Expensive very comfortable work shoes.

annandale · 12/09/2016 16:00

Congratulations blondes Flowers

My Alt-Berg walking boots. £150 five years ago. The only pair in the shop I could walk in without pain (I have weird buniony lumpy feet) and I still can. Many, many happy walks and I expect them to keep going for a long time yet.

Tempur mattress - I think it was £600, we didn't pay for it Blush but it was worth someone else's money!

My extension and particularly my bathroom - again we didn't pay for it Blush Blush but it absolutely revolutionised my life.

£90 on new clothes - mix of Next and Debenhams - for ds for a family celebration a couple of weeks ago. He looked the absolute bees' patellas, I was so proud of him (NB I am proud of him whatever he wears but love showing him off and I think it gave him a confidence boost).

Brand new Dawes bike with lockable basket and other kit, paying off slowly via the Cycle to Work scheme. Have never had a new bike before - what a revelation. I'm losing weight and will eventually be saving money as I'm cycling every day instead of using the bus 3 x a week.

Miele Washing Machine, top of the range Magimix.

Blondeshavemorefun Congratulations- it's worth every penny!

clippityclop · 12/09/2016 16:03

Gabor shoes because I have feet like a duck so the half size and slightly wider fit are bliss. Mason Pearson hairbrush. Denby crockery because it looks great and bounces well. Cashmere and cashmere/cotton jumpers and proper leather handbags because they last for years. My Nan used to say 'If you buy cheap you buy twice' and she was right.

MrsKoala · 12/09/2016 16:05

I think things aren't 'expensive' if you can afford it and they genuinely improve your life and function well. I hate things, no matter how cheap, that don't work. Form follows function has always been my mantra.

When we bought our buggy (uppababy vista) it cost more than our car. We really debated it, but I couldn't drive and needed something robust and able to carry all the shopping in. We also wanted another baby. 4 years on its still going strong, about to house baby no3. It has been used everyday and been on and off busses, groaning with shopping. What was 'expensive' were the 3 'cheap' umbrella buggies we bought for holidays. One of which actually made the holiday miserable it was so shit. That was £50 and way more 'expensive' than our £700 buggy.

This bin and the matching correctly fitting bin bags. 40 quid isn't that much, but it's a lot for a bin. But it fits in behind the door without blocking it, and it latches closed so the toddler can't open it, and the bin bags don't leak or slide down. Totally worth it. www.wayfair.co.uk/simplehuman-40L-Slim-Pedal-Bin-CW1361-CW1362-CW1363-L499-K~HMN1065.html?refid=GX121950554558-HMN1065_5857935&device=m&ptid=181945896743&targetid=pla-181945896743&PiID%5B%5D=5857935&device=m&gclid=Cj0KEQjwpNm-BRCJ3rDNmOuKi9IBEiQAlzDJH7tET294YAto_2kxaQEIgbQyLLEgatTxkjcyWMyV5GQaAjzr8P8HAQ

Mine are pretty boring, and have been mentioned lots of times already...

My big, quirky house with huge garden and two storey garage. Was reduced massively for quick sale, and even then we could only just afford it. I feel like a queen whenever I come home.

Nutribullet. Used at least twice daily.

Our dog. I never wanted one, but we got it for DD who had been ill. Oh the fun, unconditional love and sheer gorgeousness of him! So intelligent and gentle, too. And I'm fitter with all the walking.

Frannyboo90 · 12/09/2016 16:25

Hope this isn't a cheat answer bit my upcoming wedding and honeymoon in Cyprus in 5 weeks, we have 2 kids one of them has special needs and we have saved and gone without lots (us parents not the kids!) To have 5* all inclusive for 10 days, our wedding on the beach and then a BBQ with 26 family and best friends x

OvariesBeforeBrovaries · 12/09/2016 16:41

My DSLR. Cost over £300 but well worth it in the pictures of DD and all the things we've done as a family, and it's paying off now I'm getting paid for blogging as I use my camera a lot for that.

butlerchauffer · 12/09/2016 16:42

AEG washer dryer. 10Kg drum. £600 of life changing experience well spent this year.

Bambooshoots14 · 12/09/2016 16:49

Just paid £140 in the sale for a dualit toaster as a result of this thread

FasterThanASnakeAndAMongoose · 12/09/2016 17:28

My KitchenAid! It's awesome and worth every penny. I use it every day and it looks beautiful sitting on the counter like a massive, chubby, shiny frog of mixing power.

FasterThanASnakeAndAMongoose · 12/09/2016 17:29

Bamboo - for once I'm resisting RTFT for this exact reason - it could cost me a fortune Grin

Jamboreebag · 12/09/2016 17:32

My classic MaxMara camel coat. It cost a breathtaking amount of money; however, It's incredibly warm, makes me look far more elegant than I really am and will last forever (I may well be buried in it when the time comes)Smile

Dishevelled09 · 12/09/2016 17:40

Not as expensive as other items on this thread but they were expensive as non-essentials

my parlux hairdryer, it's quicker, lightweight and my hair is smoother
Lumea I'm a hairy beast and made my holiday more bearable this year as I kept using it before and some areas like my bikini which is heading south were clear
iPad, use it every day and would be bereft without it.

TheCatCushion · 12/09/2016 17:45

Miele washer and dryer - totally worth the money
Superking bed
Light alarm clock

Luluandizzy · 12/09/2016 17:50

My gtech air ram, was £300 wich is a lot for a Hoover and we are not on a huge income but it was worth every penny x

TheCatCushion · 12/09/2016 17:51

Ah yes Kitchen Aid mixer (although a present)

cherrybath · 12/09/2016 18:08

My Miele washing machine. Must be around 20 years old and still going strong. In fact anything Miele!

My 16 year old S-Type Jag, bought second hand but comfortable and lovely to drive.

My name. £80 when I was 18. It means I have a different name to my entire 'family'. I do all the admin so I get to use it almost every day and am totally free from the horrific beginning of my life. I've never spent much on anything materialwise because I'm so tight Grin
Blonde Very many heartfelt congratulations. Flowers
