Spelling mistakes on social media

Am I wrong to be completely outraged by the spelling mistakes on social media? Why are there so many people who can't tell the difference between "two", "too" or "to" or "there" and "their". Another cause of massive aggravation to me is when someone says they are "on route" somewhere - oh my good God!!! And don't even get me started on the use of apostrophes!!!

Outraged? YABU. Have some and forget about it!

I think you have to take the rough with the smooth on social media, and accept you'll be annoying to others. For example, there will be people on your friends list who will be aggravated by your excessive use of exclamation marks.

I had to delete my FB account because of it.

Ridiculous, I know but it was seriously giving me the rage.

One of my (seemingly intelligent) friends constantly writes 'should of...' And it was making me so disproportionately irritated, I had to stop exposing myself to it.

On route drives me up the wall! I'm so happy on the few occasions I see it spelled correctly I feel like congratulating the person!

You are wrong to be outraged but it's ok to feel mildly sad about it.

I get what you mean but I've learnt to roll my eyes and mutter 'fuck sake' and chuckle as I go about my business.

I don't get the on route thing though, none of my friends do this?

Fb is the place for misspellings surely?

I always feel unaccountably sad when I read the newspaper reporting of FB pages after a child or young person dies. Inevitably, someone will have written, "your with the angles now babe, will miss u allways rip xxx" It feels much worse to me than writing nothing.

Haha, I totally feel your pain, it's good to know that there's still the odd person that appreciates correct spelling and grammar.

The other one that gets me is when I see people write "alot" as if it's one word...grr, same as when people write "apart" instead of "a part" which often gives their sentence an entirely different meaning!

But nowadays I have the serenity to accept that which I cannot change!

Yes, YABU. I had no idea triple exclamation points (I am assuming you're in the US because of the use of double apostrophes) were de rigueur either, but I have learned to contain myself.

"Love are little one" makes my blood boil. It's like "our" is disappearing on my timeline.

My favourite ever mistake was some fool with a "send all the scum back home" type of post.

Which he finished with "toot sweet" 😂

Oh and "new edition to our family".

I am a total pedant but since getting an iPhone and an iPad I have discovered the hell that is autocorrect. So I'm feeling more mellow about it.

I blame phonics You can, I'm my experience, pretty much age someone by their diabolic use of what can only loosely be described as written English. Sort after things being in the draw kind of thing.
