Spelling mistakes on social media

Am I wrong to be completely outraged by the spelling mistakes on social media? Why are there so many people who can't tell the difference between "two", "too" or "to" or "there" and "their". Another cause of massive aggravation to me is when someone says they are "on route" somewhere - oh my good God!!! And don't even get me started on the use of apostrophes!!!

It is en route
we've lost the it's vs its battle, I'm seeing that all over now

allyre · 08/09/2016 20:37

To be honest I've got a cheek to talk - I keep typing "kind retards" at the end of my e-mails and having to change it.

Just seen "anyone know where to repair a puncher" on my local FB page.

Abody · 08/09/2016 20:47

Giratina · 08/09/2016 20:47

No Chronic it wasn't an apple, there must be more than one of them out there making these awful things.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2016 20:50

unimagmative13 · 08/09/2016 20:52

No read the whole thread but autocorrect makes me look like I've never set foot in a school.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2016 20:54

Its the same four us owl wen it dose it's thing

Mrsmorton · 08/09/2016 20:57

On driving threads everyone is breaking left right and centre. It's not a spelling mistake, it's just the wrong fucking word. Like they have never read a sign that says "check your brakes" or noticed that "break time" is a totally different thing to needing to slow your car down.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2016 20:58

Well of coarse they are. They don't want to loose control of the car.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2016 21:04

Bare with me

MrsTerryPratchett · 08/09/2016 21:09

I once had a snippy, passive aggressive argument through the medium of Microsoft edits with a designer. He kept correcting 'prospective' to 'perspective' and I would change it back. Wanker.

roarfeckingroar · 08/09/2016 21:12

Precisely - you can be en route or on your way but never the two should merge!

Should of/could of makes me itchy.

Spelling and grammar aren't so difficult, really.

StealthPolarBear · 08/09/2016 21:14

Oh that reminds me
Formally when they mean formerly.

Never seen it the other way round

PrincessWizard · 08/09/2016 21:17

I've seen both Chabby Chic and Shabby Shic on our local selling pages Hmm

Topseyt · 08/09/2016 21:18

All of these drive me round the bend.

Self-confessed pedant here and proud of it.

I do realise though that auto-correct has a lot to answer for. I have had many battles with mine and have concluded that it is just a twat.

Topseyt · 08/09/2016 21:21

Chester Draws anyone?

That gem has to be my all time favourite for sheer ignorance.Grin

On a serious note though, it's so annoying!

Brentlicious · 08/09/2016 21:52

Sorry - I've read the thread at speed and might just have missed others Ho have pointed out that.........
The OP is complaining about the poor use of language/spelling by others and yet she totally misuses the word 'aggravation.'
She is not alone but it makes my teeth itch.

Brentlicious · 08/09/2016 21:53

Ho Ho. Read - who.

PaperSnowAGhost · 08/09/2016 21:59

Somebody on facebook posted a picture of their birthday dinner and the caption "bone apple tea" instead of bon appétit. That one made me laugh Grin
