We got spooky 13 out the way. Now business as usual.

Do you mean literally hiding it or hiding the smell of cat litter etc? Air freshener would do the trick there. If you install a catflap, on the other hand, that would be a bit of a give-away...

How likely is it that your landlord will drop in/visit? If your inspections are always done by the estate agents and they have given you the nod, then you could get off with it.

Easy to hide a cat. Put a box in your wardrobe. Your cat will instantly get in the box.
