To fork out nearly £100 for DS nursery uniform and his teacher looks like she's a stripper

I'm really pissed off. I thought my DS's nursery uniform was compulsory. I've paid almost £100 for polo shirts, jumpers and a jacket with the school logo and I find out 3 weeks after he has started that it was parents choice.

But what really pisses me off is that the teacher turns up looking like she is coming back from a music festival or night club. She had the tiniest cut off jean shorts and a top that I could see her boobs. She wasn't wearing a bra. God knows what my DS aged 4 said about this because I'm sure he would have. Every time she bent over I was afraid they would pop out of her top. Surely it isn't too much to ask to dress appropriately! I'm not a prude but what is it teaching the kids that they have to be smart but she can wear clothes that wouldn't look out of place on a stripper. I'm going to have to speak to the head but it is so awkward because I know the nursery teacher and head teacher out with school. WWYS?

I think you're getting a hard time here, OP.

You're choice of words hasn't gone down well here, but I'd be very surprised if anyone in real life would actually approve of a person in a professional job dressing as you describe. I'd certainly be complaining.

The uniform isn't linked, but yes it does seem odd that a school with a nursery uniform, albeit optional, doesn't have a stricter staff dress code.

t4nut · 29/08/2016 23:46

Other than flagging you as an interfering busybody why would you complain about how she dressed? Just butt out.

ukulelelady · 29/08/2016 23:46

I know the head and the nursery teacher outside of school. I knew them before I had DS. I could have a chat with the head informally. Think that might be the way to go.
Yes, i saw her breasts. Im begining to think I shouldn't have started this thread now.

I think, maybe you shouldn't talk to her...maybe how she does her job,and how kind she is to yr son should be more important...since when did we get so judgemental towards each other, let's leave the judging of women's bra less chests to the men,who do it so well

SillyMoomin · 29/08/2016 23:46
Hmm
MiddleClassProblem · 29/08/2016 23:46

Charlie Dimmock has recently been on a show called Garden Rescue...

I think the problem is the terms you use makes it come across as if you are hugely exaggerating.

I see the teacher has joined the thread now.

SandyY2K · 29/08/2016 23:49

Complain to the nursery manager. It doesn't sound like appropriate dress for her job. I wouldn't be impressed regardless of whether I paid for the uniform or if my child went in their own clothes. What you paid for the uniform is irrelevant to her style of dress.

msgrinch · 29/08/2016 23:50

So in hot weather, where she was running about with kids, she wore cool clothes.. Surely thats a good thing. And no bra which is fine, why should she. Men with breasts don't.

Have you considered surgery for the stick up your arse? Or hypnotherapy to help you unclench? Claires for a grip?

Thingvellir · 29/08/2016 23:50

Clearly in such a high-class establishment all the staff should be dressed like this

hownottofuckup · 29/08/2016 23:50

I think tiny denim shorts and a top people worry you might fall out of is unsuitable in a professional setting actually, couple that with the children having an (even optional) uniform smacks of money grabbing rather than general ethos by the nursery, and I would be peeved if I felt I'd been misled.
I don't blame you for feeling pissed op.

Gileswithachainsaw · 29/08/2016 23:52

Well least that fabric will prove they were running around after the kids given its gonna show every pit stainGrin

and the blood when they trip over wearing those stupid dresses

ukulelelady · 29/08/2016 23:54

Ok, stripper was the wrong choice of words. If she were sunbathing I wouldn't think twice. If I saw her on the street I wouldn't think twice, but the fact that her clothing on this occasion flashed me I felt it to be inappropriate for work - any work. I'm sure most people would but looks like I'm in the minority. I do want my son to grow up knowing how a woman chooses to dress is her choice however, and I realise I'm contradicting myself here, I also want him to know when to dress appropriately.

WankingMonkey · 29/08/2016 23:57

OK, if it genuinely is as bad as you make out and you are not exaggerating at all, I would speak with the head as I do not feel that dress is entirely appropriate for teaching children. I am not entirely sure how I would bring the subject up though tbh

TheGruffaloMother · 30/08/2016 00:00

How in the living shit do you manage to liken a woman's appearance to a stripper, judge her underwear choices and her choice to wear shorts to her active job when it's very warm, then somehow claim she is the inappropriate one? I've seen most of my DD's nursery workers in shorts and vest tops. It's been hot and they run around after kids all day. I'd be wearing the same. It really does sound like your objection is that you thought it was a bit more high brow than all that.

ukulelelady · 30/08/2016 00:01

wow. Ms grinch. I agree, no bra is fine, if she was wearing a top that didn't expose her naked breasts. In equal opportunities if a male nursery teacher was dressing inappropriately I'd be still pissed off.

Eh?

WankingMonkey · 30/08/2016 00:05

Sorry. Was an attempt at a joke after BustingOut posted given the OP and the description Blush

MiddleClassProblem · 30/08/2016 00:06

if a male nursery teacher was dressing inappropriately I'd be still pissed off

What would that be to you? Just asking

MiddleClassProblem · 30/08/2016 00:07

Lol ok Wank just got confused

ukulelelady · 30/08/2016 00:10

This was never about her lack of underwear. I couldn't care less that she doesn't wear a bra, and have probably never noticed until tit gate.

My objection being high brow? Jeez, it's not a private nursery. IT's council funded. I don't have snobbish aspirations for a nursery school, just wasn't expecting breasts on show. Not no bras, visibly bare boobs.

Do you not have enough to do in your own life that you feel the need to be a pain in the ass?

Do nothing. Say nothing. Just let it go.

momtothree · 30/08/2016 00:13

We have a dress code in schools here. - no bare shoulders - appropriate length skirt or trousers - generally flat shoes as lots of little fingers on carpets.
