Another parking one - with a note!

This will do totally out me, so name change coming up soon.

SIL parked on a patch of grass over the road from my parents earlier to collect her DC who my mum was watching for her. I was there with my DC. When she went back to the car this note had been left for her.

My dad is fuming, if they wake up with a horses head next to them in bed a la the godfather they'll have got off lightly.

a) the grass belongs to the council
b) it's a rented property and the owners are friends with my parents and they know it belongs to the council (there used to be good natured joshing about getting the prime spot on the grass when all us kids lived at home so there were 5 extra cars to park, plus partners Shock)
c) my dad is friends with the chap that built the house in the first place and it definitely belongs to the council
d) the council maintain/mow it

I predict every visitor to my parents will now park there, my dad was moving talking about moving his car there as I left.

Would we BU to point out it doesn't belong to them so anyone can park there as and when they fancy? It doesn't cause any obstruction to anyone's drive/right of way.

This happens a lot around my way... people take over a bit of council land near their property & call it their own. Plant a garden, rush out of their house shouting to shoo anyone away who walks on their stolen land, etc. I find it utterly bizarre.

I would be parking on that grass, too, assuming a goat wasn't already grazing there.

Bitofacow · 25/08/2016 22:33

What's wrong with being common?

Marmite27 · 25/08/2016 22:38

Nothing, as long as no ones trying to park on you Grin

@MrsOverReaction: Playing the victim? Um, where?

Are you kidding? How about here:

next time I return to the bosom of my scumbag family, I will remember to prostrate myself on the piece of amenity land in apology for something someone else did and I found other people's response to funny

Or here:

Hangs head in scumbag shame

Etc.

Most people just told her that she was being unreasonable, in an AIBU thread, which is, actually, a pretty reasonable reaction! But OP chose to ignore everyone explaining why she was in the wrong, preferring to pick up on the one rude comment and act like a martyr. I dunno, maybe it's all just one big joke, but the OP does seem to be rubbing people the wrong way pretty well.

Well done Marmite, I think you've handled the vitriol with humour. I love the fact that those posters saying that you are an unpleasant person do so with no irony whatsoever. Perhaps a mistake to park on the grass, but really in the great scheme of things it's not a hanging offence, even though some on here seem to want your family hung, drawn and quartered.

SilenceMeansWhatAreTheyUpTo · 25/08/2016 23:03

Please could someone tell me what GF stands for earlier in the thread, as neither girlfriend nor gluten-free seem to fit here....

Sentry70 · 25/08/2016 23:04

It stands for Goady Fucker Silence

gandalf456 · 25/08/2016 23:05

We used to park on grass at our old house because there weren't enough spaces. Everyone did it. Maybe park with your own note 'tHIs is NoT youR gRass, it's tHe couNciL's'

SleepDeprivedAndCranky · 25/08/2016 23:24

HmmGrin Well done op 2/10

IceRoadDucker · 26/08/2016 12:01

Well done Marmite, I think you've handled the vitriol with humour.

Ha, really? I think she's handled it with startling immaturity and I'm quite embarrassed for her.

Sentry70 · 26/08/2016 12:17

Different strokes for different folks then Ice, we'll have to agree to disagree.

Bitofacow · 26/08/2016 15:38

That's a really British insult.

"I'm embarrassed for you"

Like doing something silly is the worst thing in the world. I do embarrassing shit all the time, be embarrassed for me I need it.

Anyway back to parking. Grass grrrrrrrr bloody grass bastards grrrrrr.
