Another parking one - with a note!

This will do totally out me, so name change coming up soon.

SIL parked on a patch of grass over the road from my parents earlier to collect her DC who my mum was watching for her. I was there with my DC. When she went back to the car this note had been left for her.

My dad is fuming, if they wake up with a horses head next to them in bed a la the godfather they'll have got off lightly.

a) the grass belongs to the council
b) it's a rented property and the owners are friends with my parents and they know it belongs to the council (there used to be good natured joshing about getting the prime spot on the grass when all us kids lived at home so there were 5 extra cars to park, plus partners Shock)
c) my dad is friends with the chap that built the house in the first place and it definitely belongs to the council
d) the council maintain/mow it

I predict every visitor to my parents will now park there, my dad was moving talking about moving his car there as I left.

Would we BU to point out it doesn't belong to them so anyone can park there as and when they fancy? It doesn't cause any obstruction to anyone's drive/right of way.

Parking on grass is always dickish, regardless of social class or location.

Bitofacow · 25/08/2016 22:00

Marmite27 you need to make a public apology. Tied to a post and we can throw things at you. You can cry and we will laugh while you sob apologetically.

RichardBucket I could be the Queen of Wrong from Wrong land and I wouldn't say I was wrong if was kicked around, called a cunt and the patronised.

Marmite27 · 25/08/2016 22:00

PersianCatLady tbf you could say that about the vast majority of the Internet tbf.

If you'd rather discuss more weighty matters I'm sure there's something out there that would suit Flowers

Why not just have the grace to accept you were being unreasonable?

The OP came here to smarm over knowing the ownership of a bit of grass after her SIL parked inconsidetately and her family got gruff over being called out on it. It seems logical that she's not particularly well acquainted with grace.

pennyunwise · 25/08/2016 22:03

Lol, you really do like playing the victim, don't you? Oh you're so hard done by, everyone was so mean to you, poor OP.

namechanger90 · 25/08/2016 22:03

I think it's funny WinkGrin

HoneyDragon · 25/08/2016 22:07

you do know that some people have serious, real problems to deal in life don't you?

If I had a quid for every time someone says that on CHAT forums I could solve everyone's fucking problems. Twice.

livinglooney8 · 25/08/2016 22:08

My sister lives in a terraced house with her family in a small town centre. Just spent a wonderful holiday in a terraced cottage. I didn't realise they were an issue. I'm sure yours is a lovely home and never suggested anything otherwise. My dad was such a gentleman, I never heard him say anything aggressive so understandably I'm a bit shocked.

Marmite27 · 25/08/2016 22:08

GruffaloMother not acquainted with grace, that's a low blow!

Behold as I sob into my Horlicks.

Nothing that hasn't been said before, my childhood nickname was Pansy Potter Wink

Yes you are right that is probably true but your AIBU is just so ridiculous I am laughing.

Also you seem to think that because the lady who wrote the note is not a home owner she is some kind of lower species to you, honestly.

HoneyDragon · 25/08/2016 22:11

Erm...it's not my op. But don't let that stop you Grin

HoneyDragon · 25/08/2016 22:12

Wrong fucking thread .....

candykane25 · 25/08/2016 22:12

If she was blocking it parking in the pavement to park in the grass, that would be problematic for visually impaired people, wheelchair users, mobility impaired or parent with pram.

PersianCatLady · 25/08/2016 22:15

It is a shame that you don't get a quid each time then isn't it?

Normally I would not have made this often repeated comment but this thread along with the OP's appalling attitude towards someone just because they are not a homeowner made me do it.

Farmmummy · 25/08/2016 22:16

I.have a now fully grown pet lamb who thinks its a dog if that helps? Not quite a goat but still fully tetherable (now that should be a word if it isn't)

Bitofacow · 25/08/2016 22:19

OP I could be wrong, but I got the impression you weren't being entirely serious and you could see the humour and may have been laughing (kindly) at your dad.

Perhaps I read it incorrectly but it is after all a 'parking' thread. I find the parking rage slightly disturbing. Some people need to drink a pint of perspective with a humor chaser.

Tiggeryoubastard · 25/08/2016 22:20

You seem to be looking down on the family for renting, but she left a polite, reasonable note, and it's your family that sound really rough and common, and you don't know any different as you're boasting about it.

Bitofacow · 25/08/2016 22:20

Farmmummy - I think tetherable would put us on a BDSM thread 😉

PaulAnkaTheDog · 25/08/2016 22:21

Parking thread! Ah fuck, not a good one. They suck when the op is the one in the wrong.

Marmite27 · 25/08/2016 22:24

Farm mummy, he (she?) sounds entertaining, and fluffing cute Smile I'll put him on the reserve list.

While we're doing pronouns, I don't know if it's a lady or a chap that lives there or indeed a menagerie of ring tail lemurs.

My dad didn't say much other than, 'must get the paperwork out of the safe deposit box' then after about ten minutes pondering 'I've a good mind to park there myself'. Any other embellishment was all my own (rough, inconsiderate, scumbag, graceless) hyperbole.

SIL advises she wasn't blocking any of the footpath (I believe her) and there is dropped curb access to it.

I'm astonished at the vitriol aimed at op here! Playing the victim? Um, where? The op's "appalling attitude towards someone just because they are not a homeowner"? Wtaf??? Some people must just read what they want to see... bizarre. Lol at bitofacow's comments.

Marmite27 · 25/08/2016 22:26

Bitofacow make mine a double....
