Another parking one - with a note!

This will do totally out me, so name change coming up soon.

SIL parked on a patch of grass over the road from my parents earlier to collect her DC who my mum was watching for her. I was there with my DC. When she went back to the car this note had been left for her.

My dad is fuming, if they wake up with a horses head next to them in bed a la the godfather they'll have got off lightly.

a) the grass belongs to the council
b) it's a rented property and the owners are friends with my parents and they know it belongs to the council (there used to be good natured joshing about getting the prime spot on the grass when all us kids lived at home so there were 5 extra cars to park, plus partners Shock)
c) my dad is friends with the chap that built the house in the first place and it definitely belongs to the council
d) the council maintain/mow it

I predict every visitor to my parents will now park there, my dad was moving talking about moving his car there as I left.

Would we BU to point out it doesn't belong to them so anyone can park there as and when they fancy? It doesn't cause any obstruction to anyone's drive/right of way.

OP you and your family sound like a nightmare. Very glad you don't live near me.

Are you allowed to put rocks to prevent people from parking on council grass? I have always wondered as a few people do that in my area. I don't know if you are allowed to park on the grass here, but you definitively can't park on the road instead. not taking side, just wondering

EttaJ · 25/08/2016 21:08

marmite you must be aware that your op is ridiculous and that you sound ridiculous. My dad knows the man who built the house 😂 Seriously . Twats park on grass. The note was very polite. Unlike yourself .

AliceInUnderpants · 25/08/2016 21:09

Ugh. Yeah everyone already said what I wanted to about parking on the fucking grass.

You family sound delightful

ItsAllGoingToBeFine · 25/08/2016 21:09

Parking in the grass was really antisocial - my sympathies lie with the neighbours...

ivykaty44 · 25/08/2016 21:11

Why put cars on grass? People park on the grass outside my house and although I don't put notes on their cars - for fear that like your father they would do it all the more, I don't like the grass getting wrecked and the ruts it creates. I'm not keen on cars parking on the pavement either as this is meant for pedestrian.

Ifailed · 25/08/2016 21:12

And I'd just like to point out, I haven't insulted anyone
No, but you chose to add a deliberately provocative and goady post, and now sit back smugly and try to claim the moral high-ground.

Marmite27 · 25/08/2016 21:13

Didn't expect or need sympathy, I thought it was something to discuss.

But having been told, I the next time I return to the bosom of my scumbag family, I will remember to prostrate myself on the piece of amenity land in apology for something someone else did and I found other people's response to funny.

You selfish inconsiderate woman. Shame on you! May the wrath of the gods fall upon you and smite the grass, for surely parking on grass is the devils work.

Your father's sins will be heaped upon you and your grass envy will result in a thousand years of torment. You will be tossed into the hottest of Hell's fires.

Hang you head in shame you vile, malingering tart. Woe, woe to the grass parkers!!!!!!!!!

Read the note and tremble!

(Is that OK Marmite? Do I win the frothing competition?)

SandyPantz · 25/08/2016 21:15

Renters pay council tax too, so they've paid for their environment to look nice even if its via he council
and it was someone's job to come and make it look nice

and you're gobshite family are making sure nobody gets to enjoy it looking nice to save yourselves the slightest bother

You sound like a bunch of twats!

pennyunwise · 25/08/2016 21:16

I don't think you've really been insulted all that much to be honest - no need to play the victim. It's mostly just been people calling you out for anti-social behaviour and for your family's unpleasant response.

Which seems fair enough, since you did ask about this in the AIBU section.

Marmite27 · 25/08/2016 21:17

Bitofacow, B+, I think you could do better if you really put your back into it Grin

Marmite27 · 25/08/2016 21:18

I'm awful fond of a bit of malingering though, well done for getting that in there!

OP posts:
Bitofacow · 25/08/2016 21:19

Are you a goady fucker or do you own a goat?

Could the goat go on the grass?

PortiaFinis · 25/08/2016 21:20

Oh my God this is ridiculous.

I don't understand the froth.

The note is OTT, it's not their grass. It would be different if it said "Please don't park on the grass - it's churns it up and makes it muddy".

I think OP was just being light-hearted. Why all the anger?

PresidentOliviaMumsnet · 25/08/2016 21:21

AHEM

Bitofacow · 25/08/2016 21:21

Everyone is angry because of the goat

Bitofacow · 25/08/2016 21:23

See HQ are worried about the goat.

amy85 · 25/08/2016 21:26

But sometimes there is no where else to park except for on the grass...sometimes when I visit my mum I have to park on a grass verge/path. On my mums road pretty much every house except about 5 (one of which is my mums) has off road parking. Which means there are only spaces infront of 5 houses for parking...so parking can be a nightmare and you are left with the dilemma of parking infront of someone's drive or parking on the grass

Mycatsabastard · 25/08/2016 21:26

I wonder if you'd be so amenable to a traveller parking up there for a fortnight op?

LyndaNotLinda · 25/08/2016 21:28

Because parking on grass is cuntish?

Kanga59 · 25/08/2016 21:29

People who park on grass verges annoy me. Presumably you had to drive up a kerb, which should tell you something.

You need to let it go with the neighbour. It was a polite note. Your Dad sounds highly strung. Chill dudes.

Bitofacow · 25/08/2016 21:29

Wow mycat you're really trying to calm this down by mentioning travellers.

The real question is do the travellers have goats?

ivykaty44 · 25/08/2016 21:30

The goat may put people off parking on the grass but it is a bit extreme to get a goat
