Away from home and partner gone missing, help

Posting here for traffic. We're in Brighton for the weekend and last night got a babysitter so we could go out for a few drinks. When we got in just before 12, DP went with babysitter to get cash to pay her, hasn't come back since. I guessed he'd gone on for a couple more drinks but everywhere will be closed now. His phone is off (it was low on battery when we were out), I don't have a working mobile just my laptop, he's got the only door key and I can't drive, so I am literally stuck here with our 2 DDs (1 and 4), check out is at 4 and I've got all our things and have no idea how I'm even going to be able to take the girls downstairs for breakfast without the key card to get back in after. I was considering calling the local A&E to see if he's got hurt or injured but don't want to wake them up. What do I do?!?!

Euphemia , my thoughts too- if OH and I were in that situation then bringing back cash to pay the babysitter would be a top priority.

3littlefrogs · 14/08/2016 08:28

I wouldn't expect anything but emergency/accident or similar with a normal person/relationship. OP must be worried sick.
However, it is very easy to just ring reception and ask for a duplicate key to the room.
Also - it would be simple to contact the sitter's agency and ask if the sitter could clarify the time and location of the cashpoint visit and whether the sitter thought he was ok/appeared to be heading back to the hotel/whether anything was said that would indicate a problem.

Waitingforgodot · 14/08/2016 08:30

Hope he is back safe

user7755 · 14/08/2016 08:33

Has he got form for this?

SprogletsMum · 14/08/2016 08:33

Is he back yet op?

Wdigin2this · 14/08/2016 08:34

Is he back yet Disco if not, you must be out of your mind with worry! Unless he's in some sort of trouble, he's a selfish idiot, and I'd be giving the relationship's future some serious thought!

ItShouldHaveBeenJess · 14/08/2016 08:35

I reckon the irresponsible bugger had pre-planned his little jaunt into town. Agree with PPs who think it's odd that he didn't get cash out before returning home - maybe he 'forgot' deliberately so that he'd have a reason to venture out again. Don't buy the 'gone off with the sitter' theory, though.

Hope he returns home safe and well. Must be awful on your own in a strange city with two children and going crazy with worry.

HunterHearstHelmsley · 14/08/2016 08:37

Any sign?

BBQsAreSooooOverrated · 14/08/2016 08:41

Hope he's turned up by now op.

TheFear · 14/08/2016 08:42

Can you check the bank transactions online to see if he used his card for anything other than babysitter? I assume he is back and had gone clubbing or something..

AlarmClock · 14/08/2016 08:44

Good God, there's one of these EVERY weekend - what is wrong with these men? Hmm

Thattimeofyearagain · 14/08/2016 08:45

Did you get a replacement key so you & dc can go down for breakfast , op?

3littlefrogs · 14/08/2016 08:48

Good idea to check the bank transactions.

LassWiTheDelicateAir · 14/08/2016 08:49

I've never used this sort of service but do you pay in cash afterwards? As opposed to online when booking or at least when the sitter arrives?

pieceofpurplesky · 14/08/2016 08:52

Has he returned op?

Finola1step · 14/08/2016 08:52

Any news?

Good idea about checking bank transactions from TheFear.

Lunar1 · 14/08/2016 08:52

Why didn't he have the cash when he came back? Sounds like he planned it as an excuse to go out again. Very odd though, I'd be worried too.

UptheAnty · 14/08/2016 08:53
Sad
Wdigin2this · 14/08/2016 08:53
