AIBU to be annoyed at my mum?

This is going to sound very petty and materialistic. I am very aware of that but its more the principal that gets me.
I have been after a pair of shoes for months, not because I am shoe mad or anything but for sentimental reasons. Said shoes are very rare and SO SO hard to get hold of. A pair came up in my size and I was ready to buy them, financially it was doable but a bit of a push. My mum offered to buy them for me and let me pay her back when I was more easily able to (I must say, I didn't ask. Not even a hint!) I very gratefully accepted her offer and she bought the shoes. They were delivered yesterday and she has now decided that actually she likes them and will be keeping them herself.
I am so upset because not only not going to not get them now, I won't want another pair because the sentimental reason behind them is ruined. She fully understood why I wanted them and how long I had been trying to get them. She wouldnt even know they existed if I hadnt told her I wanted them. I know there are more important things in life but I dont get why my own mum would take away something important to me just because she felt like it.

Yep, your mum is a twat. Since she obviously loves pandas SO MUCH maybe all her birthday and Christmas presents ever from all of you including DCs should now be the tackiest panda crap that Amazon has to offer. And make sure to tell her how you actually don't like them so much now you've seen them on Wink

Kidsrulethishouse · 14/08/2016 00:23

Badg3r - that is an amazing idea!

What an utter cunt!!!

What's your shoe size OP?

Kidsrulethishouse · 14/08/2016 00:27

I'm a 3 😀 She even lied to my dad and told him that they weren't my size. Not that he cares, anything for an easy life. He has to live with her 😒

Does she have form for this sort of thing ? The more of these shit parent threads I read , the more I appreciate my lovely mum and dad. My mum could have had all her shoes stolen and she still wouldn't have taken the shoes for herself, she'd rather go barefoot.

How horrible for you Op. It's not just that you haven't got your lovely shoes but the knowledge that your mum has been so spiteful.

SpaceDinosaur · 14/08/2016 00:31

SIZE 3?!!

You have pixie feet!!! Grin

SpaceDinosaur · 14/08/2016 00:36

I feel so sorry for you OP, that was a really shitty thing to do, regardless of what the item or reason was.

My advice is to now order something sooooooo hideous and pretend you long for it/it's the height of fashion and see if she takes and wears that too!! Like a wolf fleece or something ....

Kidsrulethishouse · 14/08/2016 00:40

These ones!

Oh yeah. These are much nicer that whatcha linked !!

Honestly, in a few months when the anger/upset/sentimental-ness has died down you can howl with laughter that your mum has been hobbling around on Kung fu panda and his offspring thinking she has one up on you Grin

You know in toy story 3 when lotso ditches the toys when they are heading for the incinerator? Your mum is lotso. Pure meany thing to do.

Kidsrulethishouse · 14/08/2016 00:48

I've seen those before, I think they were around £400. There is no way I could justify spending that! 😊

No. You never nick someone's Irregular Choice! A friend of mine 'borrowed' My tape measure pair and didn't return them for a year. Suffice to say I was ragey. Dick move by your mum.

Pendu · 14/08/2016 00:50

Or these ?

They seem kinda cool and maybe more wearable?

I second the idea of telling her that, now that you've seen them being worn, you're glad you didn't buy them because they don't look good.

Cheap panda tat from Ali express. Hours of fun for you DC to decorate DGM's house with stickers.

Hey Kids,

You could try these Etsy shoe clips for a fluffy AND versatile "Fuck you, Mum": www.etsy.com/uk/listing/258616839/miniature-plush-panda-bear-shoe-clips-in?ga_order=most_relevant&ga_search_type=all&ga_view_type=gallery&ga_search_query=panda%20shoes&ref=sr_gallery_41 and use the leftover pennies to buy two pairs of cheap and cheerful heels to attach them to. Variety, comfort and smugness will be yours!

With love and much sympathy,
Another narc's daughter x

kali110 · 14/08/2016 02:00

I love them in pink! ( and yhe unicorn pair)

Rumpelstiltskin143 · 14/08/2016 02:01

The buying of the panda crap for all of her presents is inspired! Please, do it!

CoffeeAndEnnui · 14/08/2016 02:03

Ooo, if you're a size 3 you could buy the panda bear Heelys I saw online (when buying glittery quad skates for a friend because, really, who doesn't need glittery roller skates in their life?) for you AND your little ones. Especially if your chap chips in too. Then you could all cruise past your mum with sympathy in your eyes as she hobbles down the street!

Inertia · 14/08/2016 08:25

What a nasty piece of work your mother is. I reckon your priority is going to be protecting your children from her nastiness.

Good idea above about making a comment that it's a good job she kept them - she'll be after a devastated reaction from you, so it'll really annoy her if you don't react and she's spent the money and ended up with sore feet for nothing.

Given the cost of the shoes, could you perhaps instead spend the money on a day trip to Edinburgh zoo to see the actual pandas?

Kidsrulethishouse · 14/08/2016 15:14

I've been debating whether to get the panda heelys for my 6yo as they start in her size. I'm not sure she will be able to stay upright though 😬Is 30 too old for heelys? I'm not sure, I am very tempted. I know I couldn't buy them for me and not her, that would be mean. It might also be mean to make her match me 😂

OP posts:
CoffeeAndEnnui · 14/08/2016 21:54

I think 30 is an extremely sensible age for Heelys and that the look on your daughter's face when you both roll out in your panda shoes will soon erase all the hurt you're feeling.

I bought myself skates last year so I could skate with my 5 year old and it has been a joy. It's also pretty damn therapeutic to roll around the kitchen alone after a shitty day...
