To think this behaviour is unacceptable?

I'm an ordinary person, who likes most things, but AIBU to think that smooth peanut butter is just wrong and the people who eat it surely come from a different planet, even to men? I think they must definitely come from Uranus. It is just unacceptable behaviour from a "so say" (using fingers to emphasise the " ") human being to like such a thing. What are your thoughts?

2kids its brilliant. DH thought I was mad, until he tried one well stole mine the bastard

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2016 13:41

Whole earth is the best. I moved into sainsburys organic for a while but then realised what I'd been missing. Peanut butter is one of the very few things I don't compromise on. And I buy any old jar of instant coffee!

FeliciaJollygoodfellow · 06/08/2016 13:42

I'm glad we're debating the important things today. Sometimes I feel Mumsnet is derailed by such trivial bollocks.

YA so NBU OP. It tastes pre-chewed when smooth and I cannot be dealing with that. I like the Whole Earth crunchy best, on lightly toasted white bread smothered with butter first.

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2016 13:45

I was nodding right up until the white bread bit. Seedy bread. With a black coffee.
then you brush your teeth.

Scorbus · 06/08/2016 13:48

Absolutely yes to the crunchy goodness, the less sweet the better, smothered on hot buttered toast (yes I know that's an abomination to some people too!)

Alleycat1 · 06/08/2016 13:49

2kids Yuk! You are so right re. nappy. I will definitely never eat smooth pb again!

StealthPolarBear · 06/08/2016 13:50

Scorbus no buter surely!

Scorbus · 06/08/2016 13:53

Yes butter, the more the better so it almost becomes impossible to actually eat the toast with your fingers.

Go on Stealth you know you want to Wink

Used to prefer crunchy PB.

Then I came to my senses.

It can only be Skippy Creamy (smooth) for the classic PBJ sandwich, the best way to eat it.

Also superb in a PBJ cheesecake.

So YABU OP! Grin

AverageGayLad · 06/08/2016 15:31

Nothing better than hot toast SMOTHERED in Lurpak Grin

AverageGayLad · 06/08/2016 15:33

Peanut butter though has to be smooth. Always.

P1nkP0ppy · 06/08/2016 21:13

The smooth stuff is oral polyfilla.
It's claggy and gag-inducing
Crunchy pb is scrummy, especially when eaten with celery 😋

abbinobb · 06/08/2016 21:42

I'm clearly disgusting a little ashamed but tesco reduced fat smooth peanut butter is the best, i bought it by accident instead of the normal one and they clearly replaced a lot of the fat with a fuck load of sugar and it is just so good

PageStillNotFound404 · 07/08/2016 08:01

YANBU OP. Smooth peanut butter is the devil's bath sealant.

Whole Earth crunchy, on the crusts of a granary loaf. Gives you jaws of steel as well as tasting good.

yummycake123 · 07/08/2016 08:06

I like both. I prefer smooth if I'm spreading it on bread, and crunchy if I'm eating it out of the jar.

Fiderer · 07/08/2016 09:51

I like both too. Smooth for with raspberry jam cos there are pips in that for a touch of crunch - and hours of trying to get that last one of back teeth.

And smooth with butter on hot toast, dribbling melty goodness all down your chin.

Crunchy is better with banana on toast.

Am emboldened to try Marmite. I think.

Oldraver · 07/08/2016 10:01

I always prefer crunchy PB but will just about have smooth if someone else has bought it

I have recently discovered..Meridian PB with coconut....yummy

mrswishywashy1 · 07/08/2016 10:09

I just had toasted muffins with smooth peanut butter and sliced banana Smile

Tiger44 · 07/08/2016 11:57

Bleurgh even worse with butter!!!! Nooooo. Cpb is not allowed to be mixed with any other oily substance. Its oily goodness must stand alone.

Must try it with marmite later though. I'm off to move furniture around so feel like I can justify lashings of it.

Crunchy only if (hipster alert) I can grid it myself to a proper crunchy texture throughout, not what you buy in a jar which is just smooth with gross chunks of peanuts mixed in. Otherwise Mayver's smooth peanut butter here in Aus. especially the dark roasted one. Heaven!

sosadforhim · 07/08/2016 15:13

Crunchy wins for me. I like the cheap stuff but recently read about the palm oil in it. I'm looking to switch to a more environmentally friendly one. On the rare occasions I ask dh to buy some pb he always brings back the smooth stuff - even when asked for the crunchy. We've actually had a heated argument about it because I thought he was doing it on purpose. First world problems.

Alleycat1 · 07/08/2016 15:53

Granary toast, lurpak butter, Whole Earth crunchy PB and a sprinkling of salt.

Thingvellir · 07/08/2016 16:34

When I clicked on the thread I thought it was going to be about crunchy parenting Grin

Anyway YABU OP, I prefer smooth PB

SapphireStrange · 07/08/2016 16:48

Crunchy.
