I've always had both as well as meat and veggies, dh thinks you don't.

No. Unless you want to, but it's definitely not traditional.

Friolero · 14/07/2016 18:48

I would never have mash with a roast dinner, just roast potatoes

NoCakeLeft · 14/07/2016 18:48

I don't see, why would you need both?

MeganChips · 14/07/2016 18:48

My mum has always done both, DH's family didn't.

I don't bother with 2, it's either/or.

ArmySal · 14/07/2016 18:49

I do too (greedy).

vinoandbrie · 14/07/2016 18:49

Only roasties in this house.

BUT, if I were at someone else's and they had both, I'm sure I could find space for some mashed potatoes as well 😊

MatildaTheCat · 14/07/2016 18:49

Mashed swede for me, please.

DustyBustle · 14/07/2016 18:49

No.
Weirdo Hmm

sue51 · 14/07/2016 18:50

CreepyPasta · 14/07/2016 18:50

Artandco · 14/07/2016 18:50

No, you never double carb. Especially the Same carb

228agreenend · 14/07/2016 18:50

My mum always does this.

Scarydinosaurs · 14/07/2016 18:50

Mashed carrots or sweet potato or swede YES

Mashed potatoes and roast parsnips YES

Mashed potatoes and roast potatoes NO

Porcupinetree · 14/07/2016 18:50

YABU mashed potato is disgusting...

AndNowItsSeven · 14/07/2016 18:52

Yes of course you have both.

Babysafari · 14/07/2016 18:52

What do you all have on your roasts?

My mum always did both types as did everyone I knew so we'd have the meat, roasts, mash, veggies and perhaps stuffing or Yorkshire puddings too.

You don't need both but they're so nice!

Dhs mum never did both but now they've come round to my way of thinking and they always do both.

OP posts:
Captainkanga · 14/07/2016 18:53

Yes to both!

Unless you're my mum who does roasts, mash AND boiled Charlotte potatoes, full choice of veg, two meats and both stuffing and Yorkshire puddings irrespective of what the meats are.

Bloody love it!

KoalaDownUnder · 14/07/2016 18:54

No. One kind of potato only. (Roasted, cos it's a roast.)

MrsDoylesTeaParty · 14/07/2016 18:54

My mum does mash, roasts and potato croquettes. It's a triple carb coma!
It's a huge pyramid shaped plate of food but only once every few months. When I start doing a roast when the kids are a bit older I'll be sensible and have one type. Maybe.

Babysafari · 14/07/2016 18:55

Ah but you don't roast all your vegetables, do you? We only roast certain veg and steam the rest so that logic doesn't work.

OP posts:
CantChoose · 14/07/2016 18:55

Never. But I have friends who do. They are all northern originally, is it a regional thing?

RaspberryOverload · 14/07/2016 18:55

My mum is the only person I know who does both.

I never do. Roasties only.

Balletgirlmum · 14/07/2016 18:56

Sometimes we have mash & roasts & boiled.

RiverTam · 14/07/2016 18:57

Never ever mash with a roast. We sometimes had boiled and roasties, but never mash. Mash is with sausages.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 14/07/2016 18:57

No of course not.
