DD has just told me that daddy always leaves her in the car when he goes in to pay for the petrol.
Can think of a few 'what if's' which might seem extreme & ultimate feel fucked off at his negligence. AIBU to feel this way? Or am I just OTT?

Not sure OTT is O enough. Maybe like OOOOOTT?

Or is this a reverse and you're the parent being told off for this?

OTT. It's probably riskier to get a toddler out and get them across forecourt. Especially of said petrol station was a busy one.

YABU

I can't see a problem with it tbh.

What are you concerned might happen?

Surely whether or not he is being negligent depends on whether she is strapped in or not and whether the car is locked or not?

OTT. Leaving DC in the car goes against the grain but petrol stations are the exception. You increase the risk by getting them out. Leaving them safely locked in the car where you can see them for a few minutes is fine.

Yabu. And OTT.
And many other things but you didn't ask anymore than that so I won't comment further.

If you're livid then yes, you're being quite ridiculous.
I have never seen anyone get their DC out of the car to go & pay, nor have I done it myself.

I used to take mine into the shop to pay. Then I realised they were safer in the car Blush. I leave a window wide open and the car unlocked . Nothing is going to happen in full view of everyone.

Are you just looking for things he might be doing wrong?

Massively OTT
It gets exhausting arguing about everything with your ex, let the small stuff go and pick your battles.
Too much time on your hands maybe?

negligence?! Nope, much more negligent to get them out and take them across a busy forecourt imo, if you are going to get on your high horse about anything. Your risk perception is all up the creek!

Yeah ott petrol stations prefer children left in cars, forecourts are not safe for kids.

Is this a reverse? I can't believe anyone is this OTT.

Yabu. Tesco always have pay at pump, but if not it's fine to pay in the shop

OTT

I never got my DCs out the car when I went to pay, except for the one time I would have been unable to view the car while waiting to pay.

The man is putting a small child in a metal box which then moves at speed with other metal boxes coming at speed behind him and in the opposite direction. You are worried about what may happen when the box isn't moving.
Here's a grip!

I have always left my kids in the car when paying for diesel. Always thought it very OTT when seen these threads saying it is negligent.

I think you are being OTT I always leave my two in the car whilst I go and pay for the petrol, what could possibly happen to her whilst the car is locked and she is strapped in?

OTT. I do this with my DD same age and younger DD. It doesn't take long and you can see them the whole time.
