Just been announced that Michael Gove is not going to endorse Johnson and is going to run as leader himself.

I reckon Boris is going to be right pissed off.

Who would you chose to be leader?

'Gove, a man of the people? Which people would they be exactly?!'

The other people who resemble a ventriloquist's dummy.

RedToothBrush · 30/06/2016 12:44

evilcherub · 30/06/2016 12:44

Theresa May is awful. She was behind the Psychoactive Substances Bill and she is behind the snooping bill (sorry can't remember the proper name). She is a totalitarian and scary.

Lweji · 30/06/2016 12:45

I've just seen that he's not running. My first thoughts were "fucker". You have put the UK in this position and now you're bailing out.

Breadandruses · 30/06/2016 12:46

Gove, a man of the people? Which people would they be exactly?!
I can only assume it's the interstellar lizard people

justalittlelemondrizzle · 30/06/2016 12:47

As a person who voted Tory in the last two general elections. I think I will be voting labour this time based on these developments Hmm god help us! It's a choice between walking into a room of hungry lions or a room full of rabied rottweilers

MissHooliesCardigan · 30/06/2016 12:47

This is getting more like a soap opera every day- DC who said he'd stay as PM whatever the result resigned almost as soon as the result was announced. Gove said he wouldn't stand for PM and then changed his mind. Then BJ who was the hot favourite for the job decides he doesn't want it anymore. You couldn't make it up. It would actually be funny if these clowns weren't running the country.
I think this is really cowardly of BJ. He's realised that the next PM is going to have years of shit to wade through. They've also likely to be deeply unpopular and he can't cope with the thought of that after years of delusional public adoration for his bumbling buffoon act. He got bored of being Mayor halfway through and just stopped bothering. He may be clever but he's a lightweight.
On a positive note, maybe my cat's in with a chance?

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 12:48

Once the leader is decided I think we should be able to bring the country back together. May is probably best to do that but maybe Gove for her number Chancellor, & Boris Foreign secretary?

OhtoblazeswithElvira · 30/06/2016 12:51
Angry So all the people who got us into this mess have buggered off? Ffs it's like they want Nigel Fartridge to fill the gap!
nuttymango · 30/06/2016 12:52

I pity the interstellar lizard people then.
The only good thing that I can think of with Gove being leader is that he's alienated a huge proportion of the population of teachers and parents and so may cost them the election. Labour need to get a bloody good, electable leader and soon.

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:53

Ditto just - I cannot see myself ever voting conservative again. However as I live in Scotland a Labour vote isn't going to do much good unfortunately.

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:54

Sounds like a magic cabinet peach are you on glue.

whois · 30/06/2016 12:54

Agreed. He is a spinless toad that didn't have the conviction to clear up the mess he created. Twat.

Lweji · 30/06/2016 12:57

Labour need to get a bloody good, electable leader and soon.

Or the LibDems. Grin

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 13:00

The LibDems aren't in parliament anymore. Didn't they merge with someone else?

pearlylum · 30/06/2016 13:01

NO BALLS BORIS.

Left us in the shit.

Thymeout · 30/06/2016 13:01

No - when Gove went, he realised he didn't have the numbers in the PLP to get the nomination.

His speech was the one he would have made to stand, with the 'but I am not the man who....' tacked on at the end.

But I imagine, as with Cameron, there are a number of consolations in not having to sort out the mess he's made.

MimsyPimsy · 30/06/2016 13:01

Ummm, Corbyn doesn't seem such a bad choice now really... Confused Grin

Thymeout · 30/06/2016 13:02

Sorry - PCP not PLP. My fingers are so used to typing the latter.

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 13:02

pearly we aren't in the shit, its just a leadership election. Boris can be PM next time.

pearlylum · 30/06/2016 13:04

Pulling out of Europe is heading for the shit.

neolara · 30/06/2016 13:04

The BBC news have just said that Gove is firmly committed to taking us out of the single market. This presumably means that he can deliver on the promise to reduce immigration. And totally fuck the economy, but presumably that's by-the-by. But he will be supported by the many people who voted for reduced immigration.

Margrethe · 30/06/2016 13:04

Could Mervyn King be our chancellor? I know he isn't an MP, but he sits in the house of lords and does understand finances. It might help to have someone who actually understood what they were doing.

pearlylum · 30/06/2016 13:05

Even boris knows he has made a huge mistake.

Thymeout · 30/06/2016 13:05

Peach - you don't seem to know v much about politics. Is that why you were so cheerful earlier on?

The Lib Dems are still in Parliament. Not many of them, it's true.

No one is going to give Boris a second chance after this.
