Just been announced that Michael Gove is not going to endorse Johnson and is going to run as leader himself.

I reckon Boris is going to be right pissed off.

Who would you chose to be leader?

Maybe the Labour party could get Fidel Castro to help them out, he has got time on his hands.

He might not be left wing enough for the party though.

SlugArmyontheMarch · 30/06/2016 16:15

I bet there have been a few Malcolm Tucker impressions in Westminster over the last few days

Oh lord YES, was saying to DH I hope this has inspired the writers to do a special.

MT would simply be put in a corner to scream throughout.

SlugArmyontheMarch · 30/06/2016 16:15

Grin Peach.

What a catastrophic mess Labour is in.

WindPowerRanger · 30/06/2016 16:17

Yep, Crabbe is said to be a happy clappy 'pray away the gay' type. He:
" employed interns in his parliamentary office through a scheme organised and funded by Christian Action Research and Education (CARE). CARE has previously sponsored events which refer to gay and bisexual people as “sexually broken” and advocating that they can become “ex-gay”. The organisation has funded internship places for young people to be placed with MPs as researchers or interns. "

This is according to The Independent.

Heseltine - ""I have never seen anything like it. He's ripped the Tory party apart, he has created the greatest constitutional crisis in peacetime in my life.

"He's knocked billions off his value of the savings of the British people. He's like a general who marches his army to the sound of the guns and the moment he sees the battleground he abandons it.

"I have never seen anything like it and he must be answerable for the consequences."

PeaceOfWildThings · 30/06/2016 16:22

Not Vrabbe then!

Who else is there?

PeaceOfWildThings · 30/06/2016 16:23

^Crabbe, not Vrabbe.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 16:24

Liam Fox.

Apparently also a homophobe although I could have sworn he was gay.

hollyisalovelyname · 30/06/2016 16:26

CFS- I think Heseltine is right.
Boris will probablybcome back when / if the mess he helped create is cleared up.

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 16:34

Realistically it's May or Gove.

I'm torn between Gove getting it and the conservatives completely imploding, but ultimately if this bloody Brexit has to go ahead then I feel we'd get much better terms if someone not involved in the Leave campaign is the PM.

PeaceOfWildThings · 30/06/2016 16:54

Liam Fox...
disgraced former Defence Secretary?

HighDataUsage · 30/06/2016 17:09

The news headlines are getting better/grimmer by the minute......the phrase No honour among thieves springs to mind

Topseyt · 30/06/2016 17:53

Heseltine is spot on with his assessment there. Always did have a way with words.

He would have made a good ambassador for the remain campaign.

ZansForCans · 30/06/2016 18:11

Hitler thing is great :o That's probably exactly what it was like though!

Just wtaf at Gove! He's not exactly Mr Popular after fucking over the education system – now he can add Machiavellian scheming and Shakespearean backstabbing to his list of skills. Not that I'm a fan of BoJo, he's horrendous but really. Listen to Keunssberg interviewing Gove you could actually hear it in her voice when he said Boris wasn't the man to lead the Tories, and she asked why he was, she almost said "And you are? Oh pur-LEASE!"

Willow33 · 30/06/2016 19:57

Stephen Crabb most grounded - grew up in a council estate, brought up by his single mum who was on benefits. So one hopes his less than privileged upbringing would make him more accessible.
No way Gove though - I would cry.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 20:09

Crabb is a bible bashing homophobe who thinks all poor people should pull themselves up by their bootstraps just like he did.

And Gove is a cunt whose wife seems to pulling the strings.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 20:11

Zans sometimes Kuenssberg really pisses me off but at other times her sarcastic voice and face are a joy!

ZansForCans · 30/06/2016 20:16

I know some people love to hate her but I think she's great to watch. She asks a consummately professional question and her face/tone of voice are going "hur hur yeah right you slimeball!"

She must be having an absolute ball at the moment - it's all so crazy. Though she must be exhausted too.

shazzarooney999 · 30/06/2016 21:56

It will be Theresa May, and she is the lesser of the two evils but still evil lol

nuttymango · 01/07/2016 06:48

I'll just leave this here.

To think that Boris is going to be p****d?
DoctorTwo · 01/07/2016 08:15

The first time I saw Gove I thought "fuck me, a real life Pob!" :o

CFSKate · 01/07/2016 08:25

rumour that
Boris Johnson 'offered to pull out of Tory leadership race if Theresa May promised to stand down by 2020'

So this is claiming Boris wanted someone else to go in for the next four years, push the button, do all the hard work of Brexit, and then he would take over in 2020??

"Boris Johnson offered to withdraw from the Tory leadership contest if Theresa May promised to stand down as Prime Minister before 2020 to save his own career, it emerged today.

The alleged offer Mrs May, now favourite to be the next Tory leader, reveals how Mr Johnson ran out of deals after support for his leadership bid ebbed away.

A supporter of Mr Johnson, who pulled out yesterday after Michael Gove 'knifed' him, is said to have approached one of Mrs May's aides with the idea about an agreed handover, according to The Times.

A source close to the Home Secretary told the newspaper she had immediately dismissed the proposal. Sources close to Mr Johnson said he had never offered Mrs May such a deal."

Margrethe · 01/07/2016 08:32

Why would May accept a deal like that? She doesn't need to make such a deal.
