Just been announced that Michael Gove is not going to endorse Johnson and is going to run as leader himself.

I reckon Boris is going to be right pissed off.

Who would you chose to be leader?

OP posts:
Mistigri · 30/06/2016 12:17

I profoundly disagree with Theresa May on almost everything but at least she's a professional. I'd rather have a professional I disagree with in charge, than a clown.

The markets and businesses will find this reassuring, I think.

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 12:18

If he backs May and she gets it he could get a cabinet position and prove he is a true statesman. Still time for PM Borris.

PeaceOfWildThings · 30/06/2016 12:19

Boris has backed out of the leadership!

WordsAreWind · 30/06/2016 12:19

If we'rr to beleive the email. Boris dorsn't have the backing of Dacre & Murdoch. But Gove does. Boris will be ripped to shreds and Gove will be made to look like our lord and savior. Will be interesting how many people fall for it, we can watch media manipulation in real time.

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 12:20

We stand a good chance of successful Brexit now. The future is bright for this country.

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:22

Righto peachpudding, glad someone's optimistic about things.

Ok thinking about it I'd much rather May won. Gove is not PM material, he just isn't. If nothing else it would be good to have another female PM even if she might be a bit reminiscent of the last one.

WordsAreWind · 30/06/2016 12:22

Rookie Don't underestimate the easilly manipulated. All they need is the media to tell them everything is rosy and they'll believe it.

Brandonstarkflakes · 30/06/2016 12:23

Oh do fuck off with your goady posts peach. No one is in the mood.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 30/06/2016 12:25

I assume you are joking.

Boris's impoverished upbringing
Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson
"Born in New York City to upper middle-class English parents, Johnson was educated at the European School of Brussels, Ashdown House School, and Eton College"

My heart bleeds for him

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:25

Words well we better hope that Labour get themselves sorted out quickly then.

I have no political experience and get tired easily - perhaps I should throw myself forward as a credible candidate.

It's true though people desperately want to be positive. DH happy that the markets have recovered quite a lot, and didn't seem to think that actually invoking Article 50 would make much difference to that. I do hope he is right.

ChazsBrilliantAttitude · 30/06/2016 12:26

It must be lovely living in your bubble. I hope it doesn't burst too soon...

Margrethe · 30/06/2016 12:28

I don't think peach is being intentionally goady. I think her frame of mind is just poles apart from yours.

SlugArmyontheMarch · 30/06/2016 12:31

Maybe Boris hasn't got to that chapter in his Ladybird book of Churchill yet ? Grin

Thymeout · 30/06/2016 12:31

There's a lot of coverage on the radio for Andrea Whatsername. Lots of international experience, city links, ministerial posts. And a Brexit supporter.

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:32

Maybe peach is Sarah Vine.
It would be handy as we could ask her opinion on beauty products.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 30/06/2016 12:32

Just watched Boris's statement - it really looked like he was trying not to laugh.

Thymeout · 30/06/2016 12:33

Slug - no Grin but listening to his speech live, it sounded as if he'd been listening to a lot of Churchill speeches. There was a bit of Obama in there, too.

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 12:35

I am not being goady, I think May or Gove would make great leaders. As does a majority of the country. It a very exciting morning.

GoblinLittleOwl · 30/06/2016 12:37

Teresa May, obviously.
She can join Leanne Wood, Nicola Sturgeon, Caroline Lucas, Angela Merkel and (possibly) Angela Eagle and Marine Le Pen.
We may get some sense out of them. The male of the species have clearly lost it.
(Anyone but Gove)

nuttymango · 30/06/2016 12:38

Gove, a man of the people? Which people would they be exactly?!

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:39

I know peachpudding - so hard to pick just two out of the inspiring bunch of conservative ministers we are lucky enough to have in our government currently, such a pity only one of them can be PM.

SlugArmyontheMarch · 30/06/2016 12:41

Leadsom for me but would be happy with May.

Eagle for Labour - another huge mistake for Labour, Corybn far better than her.

The L party is looking like an utter joke right now.

EElisavetaOfBelsornia · 30/06/2016 12:41

Lurking - Gove an improvement on Grayling, yes. "Respect within the department" - GrinGrinGrin - errr, no.

HTH.

LittleLionMansMummy · 30/06/2016 12:42

May for me. I disagree with her on many things but she's well respected and given that she was ultimately Remain (though cleverly kept her powder dry) she stands more chance with other European neighbours. She's an excellent negotiator which is exactly what's needed now. Having dealt with her civil servants, I know how well respected she is and believe she's the best option to take us forward.

cozietoesie · 30/06/2016 12:42

It's clearly going to be down to who has the best shoes. Grin
