Just been announced that Michael Gove is not going to endorse Johnson and is going to run as leader himself.

I reckon Boris is going to be right pissed off.

Who would you chose to be leader?

OP posts:
TheNaze73 · 30/06/2016 09:29

Comrade Corbyn v Michael Gove.....as Party leaders, at a time when we need strong leadership

What a time to be alive.... FFS

Laiste · 30/06/2016 09:32

It would be nice if it's someone i've heard of. That's about as far as it goes for me.

I'm just so glad Cameron's out. It's made my year.

Didactylos · 30/06/2016 09:32

this is like a 'Most attractive Cockroach' contest
There must be a winner but I cant come up with a single objective criteria to let me distinguish it

dimots · 30/06/2016 09:33

I don't think Boris wants to be leader any more. I think he told Give to stand...

MimsyPimsy · 30/06/2016 09:33

Come back, Nick... Nick... oh, you know, can't quite remember his name now. But the one who lied on tuition fees. Come back, all is forgiven. You don't seem quite so bad now... Wink

Peanutbutterrules · 30/06/2016 09:34

Unbelievable. Feels a bit like the 'Brown/Blair' deal.

MimsyPimsy · 30/06/2016 09:34

dimots That's just what I think. A way for Boris to avoid the poison chalice.

Zorion · 30/06/2016 09:34

Why not Gove? 52% of the voters believed his lies, don't you just a little bit want to watch him squirm when they realise what pawns they have been in his and Johnson's re-enactment of Macbeth?

I am torn between wanting May to sort this out as the most competent, and wanting Gove to really fuck it up in hope that theres a snap election.

derxa · 30/06/2016 09:34

Theresa May. She's a serious politician. Gove and Johnson are jumped up journalists. Sarah Vine at No 10 Nooooooooooooo! The Daily Mail are doing a real job promoting Gove today. I remember what he did to Education. He's a slimy little shit.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 30/06/2016 09:34

Michael Gove is not going to endorse Johnson and is going to run as leader himself.
wonderful news. I feel so happy!

"Backstabbers stab in back" shocker!

OhStacey · 30/06/2016 09:35

I'm a Tory member but not sure who I would vote for at the moment.

I love Gove and he is very liberal in many ways (see his prison policy) but he's really a man of the people. Boris seems to get away with that more.

I'm not keen on May, I met her and didn't warm to her.

I like Crabb a lot but he voted against gay marriage which makes me nervous.

I'll just see who the final two are.

bakeoffcake · 30/06/2016 09:36

Loving some of the replies on hereGrin

I'm so glad Give has shafted Boris, best news of the week!

They are a shower of cunty twats. I want them to go into a room and fight it out.

NannyMarmalade · 30/06/2016 09:36

Almost considering joining the Tory party temporarily to vote for Theresa

Unfortunately you can't vote if you join temporarily. You have to be a member for three months.

I think we need a General Election!

derxa · 30/06/2016 09:36

I'm just so glad Cameron's out. It's made my year. Not me.

GiddyOnZackHunt · 30/06/2016 09:37

Liam Fox, Jeremy Hunt and Nicky Morgan were all thinking about standing too. Not sure which have actually declared yet.
It's like a 'pin the tail on the donkey' competition...

MissHooliesCardigan · 30/06/2016 09:38

I think Theresa was very astute to talk about some politicians treating politics as a game and not realising that it actually affects people's lives.
'A week is a long time in politics' had never been more apt.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 30/06/2016 09:38

Just read Teresa Mays article on standing for PM - seems the Tories are the new workers party :)

If you believe that you'll believe anything Grin

Margrethe · 30/06/2016 09:39

I prefer May, but I would prefer Gove to Boris. I just think he is a bit lazy and self centred for the job at hand.

LurkingHusband · 30/06/2016 09:39

MissHooliesCardigan

That's not an asylum-seeking cat is it ?

My particular loathing for May is crystallised by that speech she gave where she told use the reason we shouldn't have human rights was because - ands she wasn't making it up - they couldn't deport an asylum seeker because he had a cat. Now remember she was Home Secretary at this point, not some low-rent Littlejohn. The statement was basically such a bad reading of a complex court case that if a child had said it at school it would be called a deliberate lie.

There was a brief press flurry, and then she admitted she knew it was a gross misrepresentation of the real situation.

One thing which (worryingly) has been sidelined in all the EU talk, is the distaste Tory grandees have for the EcHR. There is a real danger that having convinced the UK to jump off a cliff, they manage to convince us to remove our parachute too.

I feel like there should be a "Year counter" on the news, so we can see how far back the time machine is taking us. Currently it feels like 1975 - when the Tory party elected Thatcher on an "anyone but Heath" ticket. However I think Gove, Johnson and May have their sights set on the 1930s, or maybe 1920s.

I wonder if Johnsons Churchull fetish extends to shooting striking miners ?

ThreeSaggyBalloons · 30/06/2016 09:39

Don't forget Dr Liam Fox, he's thrown his hat in ring too.

HubrisComicGhoul · 30/06/2016 09:40

If i haf to pick, I'd want David Davies, he's the most human like of the lizard people in my view. Shame he won't run againSad

TheNaze73 · 30/06/2016 09:41

Nanny why do you think we need a general election?

We vote for our local MP, not the party leader. The last time we had a change of leader midterm, when Blair handed over to Brown, we didn't have a GE. That went brilliantly....Wink

LurkingHusband · 30/06/2016 09:42

Catgate

Lailalee · 30/06/2016 09:42

Theresa May

Justaskingnottelling · 30/06/2016 09:43

Love to hear what Theresa May has lied about???

Talk about Hobson's choice. I can't believe how we've gone from being a seemingly normal country to now having these two jokers as potential PMs, within a couple of weeks.
