Just been announced that Michael Gove is not going to endorse Johnson and is going to run as leader himself.

I reckon Boris is going to be right pissed off.

Who would you chose to be leader?

Hubris, I feel the same. David Davies does seem more like a human being.

bakeoffcake · 30/06/2016 11:17

BJ has just come out of his house with a small childHmm. Bet she enjoyed being screamed at by the worlds media, but a great way to avoid answering questions.

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 11:21

'Why does everyone have it in for Boris, he is quite fun, and he is quite cuddly.'

Why do people fall for the 'fun and cuddly' shtick?

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 11:23

'BJ also had modest origins having been brought up on a Council estate but got into Eton'

Er, he most definitely did NOT grow up on a council estate.

squeezed · 30/06/2016 11:26

What a "coincidence" that Sarah Vine's email was "leaked" yesterday questioning whether Gove should back Boris.

PeaceOfWildThings · 30/06/2016 11:28

BJ basically passed Eton's entrance test and scored well enough to be offered a scholarship. Eton have to offer a certain number of free places each year to meet the requirements of some founding charter, or funding, or something or other. These placrs have to be offered to locals, but they don't have to be poor to accept.

DH was also offered a scholarship there and turned it down, thank God.

However horrendous some of the conservative candidates may appear, at least they have candidates. What the hell is going on with Labour? Don't do it Angela Eagle fgs, they will rip you apart, they had already started on you on twitter last night. You were already in tears a few days ago and you will be shedding more if you win this poisoned chalice.

Probably Theresa May for me. I didn't know she had had a child adopted, but to raise this as an issue is appalling (and I speak as an adoptee). Are we still living in the 1960s.

Even David Cameron has said we must have a credible opposition.

BigGreenOlives · 30/06/2016 11:37

An Eton scholarship, even in the late 70s, early 80s might have only been for academic excellence. I think his school fees were probably paid by the EU, didn't his dad work for the EU in Brussels?

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 11:39

Boris is about to give a speech, hold onto your hats.

Corbyn also gave a speech, dont think the media even bothered to report as it he is so irrelevant now. Come on Labour stop being cowards and bury him.

ICanCountToOneHundred · 30/06/2016 11:42

It is because the media never report on him except to slate him.

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 11:50

NO, its because he never says anything worth reporting, all he ever does is protest about how hard done by everyone is, like its 1980, we have heard it for decades. He never says anything concrete about what he would do to change anything, how he would pay for it and he never answers any questions the press asks him.

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 30/06/2016 11:55

"Quite fun and cuddly" are NOT the characteristics I look for in a Prime Minister! Intelligent, caring, diplomatic, balanced, able to see all sides of an issue, has some understanding of the struggles of ordinary life - all of these, yes - but fun and cuddly are characteristics for a childrens TV presenter, not someone who will be running our country for years!

derxa · 30/06/2016 11:56

Boris not running

MimsyPimsy · 30/06/2016 11:57

So Boris isn't standing - as Dimots said and I agreed earlier in the thread.

The leaked Sarah Vine email had Boris's sticky fingerprints on it perhaps...

derxa · 30/06/2016 12:00

The Stop Theresa campaign

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:01

Wow so Boris has pulled out. That's interesting.

HisNameWasPrinceAndHeWasFunky · 30/06/2016 12:02

Boris must be hugely relieved someone else will have to deal with the Brexit mess.
He'll continue to bide his time.

Margrethe · 30/06/2016 12:04

He can bide his time alright. I won't respect him if he runs in the future. He is in large part responsible for the country voting to leave. He got what he wanted. Now we need leadership and he is shying away from the mark. He does not have what it takes.

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 12:05

OMG i am in shock

MitzyLeFrouf · 30/06/2016 12:06

He can bide his time all he likes but I suspect he's lost his only No 10 window.

WordsAreWind · 30/06/2016 12:14

Theresa May is like Thatcher 2.0 on steroids. Unfortunately she will appeal to many with her sound bites, sterness and professionalism and in 10 years time we'll all realise we've been screwed.

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:15

Well I think his ship has truly sailed.

If he'd have used his persuasive powers to back his PM rather than a rather ill-judged Machiavellian leave strategy, then he might have had a genuine chance as next PM when Cameron's time was up in an alternative world where Remain had narrowly won, but there was the opportunity to get some more concessions for the UK.

Delighted that he's scuppered his own ship. Just waiting for Farage to turn publicly on his recent bed mates for some extra fun.

I suppose I want May to get in because we need someone "untainted" to lead the negotiations with the EU to try and get the best deal we can for the UK.

DailyMailEthicalFail · 30/06/2016 12:15

what has he SAID??? cant get on tv to hear???

peachpudding · 30/06/2016 12:16

May or Gove, spoilt for choice of great leaders.

rookiemere · 30/06/2016 12:16

We're already screwed words no matter who gets in. I don't think it's going to take us 10 years to realise something that has already happened.
