I voted Leave but don't deserve abuse for it !!!!

Yesterday I voted to leave after months of thought about all the main issues regarding membership.

I decided to leave based on sovereignty, I don't want a closer EU/United States Of Europe. I don't want my son to be in an EU army.

Immigration and economics for me were lesser issues. But still influenced my vote.

The names on here and Twitter that have been directed at leave voters has astonished me.

I am not uneducated, racist or xenophobic. I simply want the best for my country and that IMO is leave and I am overjoyed with the victory today against all odds.

Maybe if those on the remain side looked more into the arguments instead of name calling it would have been a different result.

It shocks me that labour supporters on Twitter are saying these horrible names against leave voters, but they need us to get their seats in the north, I don't think it is a good idea to insult your own base.

Even on mumsnet rhetoric has been appalling, I have had posters say they can't bring themselves to speak to leave voting parents.

Why can't you just accept maybe that leave possibly has a better campaign/arguments.

This idea that many leave voters regret the vote is wrong, everyone I know who voted leave is in a joyous mode today.

Can we just move on now and accept the result instead of insulting 52% of the population.

Ha!
Suck it up buttercup.
I'very had to send our redundancy letters, felt like shit.
You got what you wanted, now you won't take responsibility? Sounds like every leave MP.
Cameron resigned because no-one wants to deal with this shit storm.

Globetrotter100 · 24/06/2016 21:07

Charming. I'm sure your kids will be very grateful for that Confused

Hamishandthefoxes · 24/06/2016 21:08

Widdums. My heart bleeds for you.

PaulDacresMicroPenis · 24/06/2016 21:08

Good point georgette perhaps we could be called Little Britain Grin

alltouchedout · 24/06/2016 21:08

Point of order but it's inaccurate to say that 52% of the population voted to leave. 52% of those who voted did so, so about 37% of eligible voters, or around 27% of the UK population. Leave definitely won the referendum but it's a stretch to say they have the support of a majority of eligible voters, let alone a majority of UK residents.

And I don't deserve to lose my eu citizenship or all the benefits that eu membership brings, yet the votes of people like you mean I will do. Forgive me for not giving a toss about your hurt feelings when people express how angry and upset and afraid and full of contempt your actions have made them.

Globetrotter100 · 24/06/2016 21:09

My last post was for OP in response to her post stating she only considered herself

pristinechristine · 24/06/2016 21:09

Quite frankly I couldn't give a shit about a leave voter's feelings.

You have voted for this. It was the wrong decision, as you will concede at some point. Take some responsibility and grow up.

MustStopAndThinkBeforePosting · 24/06/2016 21:09

I don't want a closer EU/United States Of Europe. I don't want my son to be in an EU army.

The fact that you could write these two sentences means that you could not possibly have understood what the EU actually has power to do. Neither of these things were even remotely possible with the Remain option.

AmyWatt1972 · 24/06/2016 21:09

I am sure they will, I am sick of this doomsday scenario.

I am hopeful or a better future for my children after today's result. You may disagree that is your right to do so.

MidnightAura · 24/06/2016 21:09

I voted Remain. I wouldn't abuse anyone for voting. Its their right and at least they used their vote unlike my neighbour who didn't bother her arse voting and is now moaning at the result

People always complain when things don't go their way. After the Scottish referendum I was called a traitor, a shitebag, a coward and to "fuck off to England" I'm Scottish. Some of which I was called again today because apparently this is all the result of no voters.

BombadierFritz · 24/06/2016 21:10

Its just awful that so much economic and political damage can be caused by this decision. Its not surprising so many of us are appalled.

Salmotrutta · 24/06/2016 21:10

The lack of housing, decent schooling and NHS services has got bigger all to do with "immigrants" by the way.

It's got lots to do with the present government and its predecessors mismanaging the economy.

But thanks to you "leavers" it'll all get worse.

Thanks for that Angry

crossparsley · 24/06/2016 21:10

No-one deserves abuse, sorry if that's your experience today.
However, our economy has had a huge unnecessary shock that will hurt economically vulnerable people hard. And the (I hope) minority of people on one side will feel they have a licence to be personally vile and possibly aggressive to other human beings trying to go about their lives here.
In my view, you deserve disdain.

lljkk · 24/06/2016 21:11

maybe that leave possibly has a better campaign/arguments

Doesn't mean that Leave was best for Britain.

There was a lot of gloating this morning, an almost festival atmosphere, by many Leave supporters, due to their almighty quite small majority. I'm sure you can find somewhere to gloat online with them and shut out the people who are unhappy about the vote.

Hamishandthefoxes · 24/06/2016 21:11

Actually user, you have some way down. If tax receipts drop there will be more austerity. The people who are hurt by austerity are the people who need government help for housing, income, food etc. If tax take goes down that will drop. I hope that doesn't come to pass now but I'm really not optimistic.

Bigoldsupermoon0 · 24/06/2016 21:11

"I am sick of the backlash people get simply for having a different opinion."

Yeah, no.

oldharrysgame · 24/06/2016 21:11

I voted remain. I lost. How does it help my dd to slag off leave voters? No point. I don't. Let's all ignore the trash talk and move forward.

user1466795781 · 24/06/2016 21:12

redundancy letters

La de la, those of us working class stuck on zero hours cuase of immigration just get told no hours. It can get worse for us and leaving at least offers us hope.

Hamishandthefoxes · 24/06/2016 21:12

It really can get worse for you, unless you're in the streets already.

FirstWeTakeManhattan · 24/06/2016 21:12

everyone I know who voted leave is in a joyous mode today

What delightful news.

Their joy, however, is absolutely inexplicable to a great many people.

Ruing the day will not come even close.

stopitatonce · 24/06/2016 21:14

People are angry with you because they feel that you and the rest of the leave voters have fucked up their country, their futures and their children's futures. That seems pretty reasonable to me.

Bigoldsupermoon0 · 24/06/2016 21:14

redundancy letters - La de la.

Stay classy, user1466795781

AmyWatt1972 · 24/06/2016 21:14

If the result was remain I would never say I am not going to a remain dominant area or speaking to my remain parents, that is insane.

I would never say I don't care about your feelings cause you've taken away my nations sovereignty.

OP posts:
IHopeYouStepOnALegoPiece · 24/06/2016 21:14

But yet had we remained, God FORBID the brexiters had complained because the vote didn't go their way...if they had spouted half the vitriol that the Remain voters had then everyone would be up in arms but apparently it's fine to do it to those who voted to leave.

The behaviour of some idiots today has been vile

Salmotrutta · 24/06/2016 21:14

You might be hopeful for a better future for your children OP - but you won't get it.

The ramifications from this could rumble on for 10-15 years - it could take that long for the economy to gradually recover. If it ever does.

I remember the 80s very well - mortgage interest rates up at 15% - that's what you have to look forward to...

Well done.
