Yesterday I voted to leave after months of thought about all the main issues regarding membership.

I decided to leave based on sovereignty, I don't want a closer EU/United States Of Europe. I don't want my son to be in an EU army.

Immigration and economics for me were lesser issues. But still influenced my vote.

The names on here and Twitter that have been directed at leave voters has astonished me.

I am not uneducated, racist or xenophobic. I simply want the best for my country and that IMO is leave and I am overjoyed with the victory today against all odds.

Maybe if those on the remain side looked more into the arguments instead of name calling it would have been a different result.

It shocks me that labour supporters on Twitter are saying these horrible names against leave voters, but they need us to get their seats in the north, I don't think it is a good idea to insult your own base.

Even on mumsnet rhetoric has been appalling, I have had posters say they can't bring themselves to speak to leave voting parents.

Why can't you just accept maybe that leave possibly has a better campaign/arguments.

This idea that many leave voters regret the vote is wrong, everyone I know who voted leave is in a joyous mode today.

Can we just move on now and accept the result instead of insulting 52% of the population.

"The rich have been getting richer by allowing mass immigration from a certain class that weren't needed in the first place. It was allowed due to greed"

I can't get my head round this one.

How do you think the rich are getting richer due to immigration? How does that work exactly?

come what may it's truly been worth it.

This is a logical fallacy.

The rich have been getting richer by allowing mass immigration from a certain class that weren't needed in the first place. It was allowed due to greed. Its going to stop. Im so happy that I've made the right decision in voting out.

You're going to be much less happy when you find out it's going to carry on because that's the only way we'll be allowed access to the single market.

Seriously, people can have whatever views they want about immigration, but because the EU has free movement, it doesn't actually matter whether it's a good thing or not. We're going to be made to have it too, regardless. This is why all those people who voted Leave because of immigration are going to get a nasty shock in the near future.

I can see from the other thread you're on that you don't go in for explanations of your thinking, but even by your standards, this is is piss poor.

It will go some way to halt immigration whether legislation stills allows this

How would this happen, do you think?

Im not in for a shock at all. I voted leave and come what may it's truly been worth it. It will go some way to halt immigration whether legislation stills allows this. The promised land no longer has that. Good enough for me.

I'm incredibly annoyed at the result. People voted to leave without understanding the issues or as a protest. And they were lied to by the campaign and the papers. It's the wrong decision for the wrong reasons.

And I am angry with people who voted out.

I think the ?OP is a goody fucker.

But i am angry that so many people voted out without any real understanding of the issues or as a protest and the leave campaign has blatantly lied. I'm so upset at the result. The economy will tank, people in deprived areas will be worse off, and we've pissed of our largest trading partner and the city is screwed.

And yes I think some people who voted leave were blatantly racist.

Not all obviously. But now that leave are backtracking on the right to work across Europe free movement of workers, the ones who voted on the fewer foreign workers are in for a shock.

This is what I hear.

That area is run down due to us sycophants wanting to keep our lovely lawns and big houses. Lets put them there then. We only want to cherry pick a bit of labour for god sake.

The right thing happened two days ago.

Most of Great Britain had to live it rather than benefit from it. So hence the democratic out vote.

Deal with it.

"those of us working class stuck on zero hours cuase of immigration just get told no hours"
Why do you think that zero hours contracts are the fault of immigration rather than the fault of an anti working class government? Can you not see that this government are using typical divide and conquer tactics?

My word no wonder everything is such a mess...individuals who are usually intelligent, kind and compassionate people descend into pointing fingers and name calling and generally tearing each other apart over a difference of opinion.

We should all be thankful that we had the freedom and the right to vote on such issues in the first place. Women died for right to vote, I think those that gave their lives for that cause would be ashamed to see you all name calling and being down right nasty and spiteful because you don't agree with how the other person voted!!

A persons vote is a right, a right to choose based on what they think is best, it does not under any circumstances deserve that person to persecuted for their vote. Every single person had reasons for voting the way they did, whether the reason be good or bad, something you understand or not it should bloody well be respected!. We are priveldged to enjoy the right of a vote and to live in a democracy and I certainly prefer to live in a democracy than under a dictatorship and regardless of whether the vote goes my way or not I shall respect the democratic process and those that voted. I think a few others could do to learn the same from some of what I've read on several threads regarding this topic!! Disgusting, honestly!

I haven't read the full thread and I voted remain. I won't be falling out with friends, relatives or colleagues who voted to leave as they are entitled to vote any way they choose. However there is blatant racism by some leave voters and there are some who voted leave for completely different reasons than the EU. The leave and remain campaigns were both terrible and full of lies. I don't actually think This article 50 will be invoked anyway. You can tell the leave camp (except for Farage) did not expect to win, they have no plan and are planning to stall until October when the new PM in place. They will then probably call a GE and a party will run on a pro EU basis when the 48% will then vote them in. Result

It is a little disappointing the economic arguments did to figure a little higher in the Leave rhetoric, as interestingly by lunchtime many of their claims for rosy post EU world were being retracted.
Trade agreements and global economics are key to our Nation`s survival,
Sovereignty debate will look a bit silly when all the foreign investment drains from the UK and the pound is worth nothing.
If the world plays "tennis" then it is in our interest to play "tennis" as well or we are not in the game at all

Alconleigh

Wow an interview with one person who voted leave for stupid reasons. Even if his mates voted leave because of that what does it prove? Even if the whole town voted leave because of that, what does it prove?

That potentially 18,000 people were a bit thick, would that have changed the outcome of the vote? No.
