there seems to be a trend on here sometimes for some people to follow the 'popular choice' on subjects that might be controversial, some will stick their heads over the parapet and risk getting flamed but most will stick to the 'right' choice. i bet there are posters on here today who voted to leave, saw the slagging off and decided to declare themselves as remain.
just a thought - ready for my hair singeing ! Smile

I voted remain and I am gutted with the result

Wonkydonkey44 · 24/06/2016 19:57

I voted remain as it was always about more than immigration . I'm devastated with the decision 😥

Lottielou7 · 24/06/2016 19:59

I voted remain. I'm absolutely horrified at the result. I've definitely been under a cloud today.

What makes me really sad is that I do think Brexit was driven by racism. My friend has a father who came over here from Sicily when he was 14. She had some dickhead square up to her this morning and say 'how do you feel about being half Italian now then?'

I do not think the electorate should have been allowed to make a decision like this, personally.

gonetoseeamanaboutadog · 24/06/2016 20:03

I agree lottie. I don't think what people thought they were voting for is what they will get.

I feel ashamed that we are pulling up the drawbridge and to ensure we get the best of everything while the rest of Europe is struggling to play the Good Samaritan. The world is experiencing massive crises that have left huge numbers of families homeless; this is a problem that should be affecting us. It amazes me that the nation became sentimental over the ideals that drove Jo Cox before deciding that Britain has to look after its own. Love comes at a price and in comparison to many countries and many families we had a great deal more to give.

I Voted remain.

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 24/06/2016 20:06

I voted remain as did the massive majority of people I know but then I live in London in a borough that had a 75% remain vote. Gutted.

Summerwood1 · 24/06/2016 20:07

Voted leave

IndianaJone · 24/06/2016 20:08

Remain and feel so worried for my children's futures and genuinely upset.

SingingSamosa · 24/06/2016 20:10

I voted remain, as did my husband. I did an awful lot of research, read government papers and everything, before making my decision. I still stick by my decision and was absolutely flabbergasted at the result when I woke this morning. I feel that the entire campaign was conducted badly and the remain camp failed to promote itself sufficiently and properly, with proof, dispute the lies being disseminated by the leave camp. What actually transpired was in fact a bitter playground squabble, with lots of mud-slinging, tit for tat and very little actual proper information. No wonder that there were a lot of people voting who had absolutely no idea of the ramifications of a leave result.

Lizzylou · 24/06/2016 20:11

Voted Remain.
A number of my work colleagues and some of my family voted Brexit. They are mostly not racists, it was a sovereignty issue for them, but I know of lots who are of the "I'm not recist but...." camp

echt · 24/06/2016 20:12

I voted remain. For what it's worth, I haven't met a single Austraisn who isn't shocked and dismayed at the outcome of the vote. And yes, all the ones I know are well - educated.

I 'm so so pissed off about this.

goingmadinthecountry · 24/06/2016 20:12

Remain, as did dh and our 3 older children. It's unbelievable. Did you hear the old man crying on R4 because he did for people who died in the war because of the Germans? Aaargh

SpaceUnicorn · 24/06/2016 20:13

I voted remain.

I accept that 51% of the country did not agree with me. I accept this because I understand that democracy means allowing that some people (sometimes even many people) think differently to you.

I am disappointed in the result. I have not posted hyperbolic posts on social media or made sweeping generalisations about the intelligence of the people who voted differently from me. I do not think that everyone who voted 'leave' is xenophobic or racist. I acknowledge that some people, on both sides, voted without giving the matter considered attention. I acknowledge that some people, on both sides, voted for what they genuinely believe to be best.

I don't know what will happen next. Nobody knows that, yet.

Jellykat · 24/06/2016 20:13

I voted remain, and am horrified at todays events Sad

Tequilamockinbird · 24/06/2016 20:14

I voted remain, and actually felt sick when I turned on the news this morning Sad

Luciferbox · 24/06/2016 20:15

I voted remain

MyCatsHateMLMtoo · 24/06/2016 20:18

I voted remain as did my whole family (except Mum who reads DM Blush). At work this morning a lot of sad and frustrated faces. I'm in Scotland and my area voted overwhelmingly remain, as did the majority of Scotland voters.

imwithspud · 24/06/2016 20:20

51% of the country did not agree with me.

No no, since the whole country didn't vote, 51% of the people who voted did not agree with you. The actual figure of people who didn't agree with you (or me and most of the people on this thread) will be much lower. There is a differenceSmile

IamnotaStepfordHousewife · 24/06/2016 20:21

Dh and I voted remain

SpaceUnicorn · 24/06/2016 20:27

Yes, point taken. That was sloppy phrasing on my part.

prettyusefulsometimes · 24/06/2016 20:29

I'm in my mid- forties, have a young child, am self-employed and live in a Leave region. I voted Remain.
This referendum should never have taken place. Our European critics are right in stating that this was fuelled by political infighting and mis-information on all sides.

I hope all the Leave supporters go out tomorrow and buy British goods, especially those produced by British farmers.

And to my elderly relative - no, Britain did not have an Empire before we joined the Common Market. And to my work aquaintance who thinks we will get rid of corrupt politicians - no doubt you 'll be declaring your cash-in-hand job to HMRC on Monday.

Sneeze182 · 24/06/2016 20:30

Remain

2muchcrap · 24/06/2016 20:31

In my 30s, 2 DC, voted leave. Don't get why the sudden hysteria.

fryingtoday · 24/06/2016 20:32

I voted leave. Result !!!

notamummy10 · 24/06/2016 20:40

2muchcrap - I can't speak for everyone who is part of my generation (18-24) but for me, it feels like my future has been decided for me by the leave voters. But at the same time, my generation has itself to blame- out of all the eligible voters aged 18-24 only 25% bothered to vote. 75% (approximately 18.25%) of voters did vote remain.

But I feel even more sorry for the generation who were unable to vote because they are under 18, who have to live with the consequences of others!
