I have seen so many messages on FB saying that the poorer members of society shouldn't have been allowed to vote.
Because apparently, some members of society aren't capable of making decisions for themselves.
How disgusting and patronising is that?

This is talk from people who are supposedly for the best interests of ALL people.

So how does the labour/lib dem 'ethos' work exactly?

It's good to help people.
As long as you don't ever give them any choice?

Hmm
OP posts:
squoosh · 24/06/2016 11:00

Nope. Can't say I've seen anything like that. So the thickos that you're friends with are indicative of people who voted Remain? Love the logic there OP. Really top class.

Aeroflotgirl · 24/06/2016 11:05

squoosh, I said the people on my Facebook feed, it says a lot about them doesen't it!

TrueBlueYorkshire · 24/06/2016 11:05

I've got two passports and shifted all my shares into worldwide equities a few months ago. Really happy about this now!

What we need now is to become Europe's tax haven so that we can screw those socialist dreamers out of every cent. The next step will be to tell those workshy lot in NI and Scotland to jump off a bridge.

Really looking forward to a bit more quantitative easing from Mark Carney too, hopefully can capture a few of the benefits from that too. Money is made on the ups and downs people!

Aeroflotgirl · 24/06/2016 11:06

I've hidden them, as quite frankly it is nasty and unpleasant, and not what democracy is about.

PurpleRainDiamondsandPearls · 24/06/2016 11:07

None of my FB friends have been rude or derogratory about either side but I have nice friends. You need to keep nicer company.

Mabey I do, I am shocked really, some I have known for years since school or college. Mabey I will have a very small friends list.

squoosh · 24/06/2016 11:09

I'm a nice person and I have nice friends.

Kitsa · 24/06/2016 11:10

I do love this notion that democracy is about being nice and everyone getting along and respecting each other's views even when we disagree and not judging.

ThisCakeFilledIsle · 24/06/2016 11:11

No but a civil life is about that in large part ime.

squoosh · 24/06/2016 11:11

As the results were being announced last night some of the MN Brexiters were calling people 'sore losers'. As if they expected people to respond with a 'congratulations and jolly good show'.

Salene · 24/06/2016 11:13

It's not facebook it's all over mumsnet too

People on their high horse thinking 52% of population were wrong and of course they are right.

ThisCakeFilledIsle · 24/06/2016 11:14

After indyref experience I'm into peace in public mode.

Kitsa · 24/06/2016 11:15

Cake indeed, but on hugely important issues that people are passionate about, I'm amazed at the extent to which some people expect niceness.

squoosh · 24/06/2016 11:17

It's a British thing. Maintain a polite facade at all times. Because that's what's really important. Never mind that people have voted to fuck the country up the arse.

ThisCakeFilledIsle · 24/06/2016 11:21

Oh god I'm not nice at all.

ThisCakeFilledIsle · 24/06/2016 11:21

I have learned to be civil the hard way!

TopazRocks · 24/06/2016 11:21

It's possible to calmly and politely strive for a better, more tolerant society, no? I am another survivor of the indieref - this has been worse IMO. and much more final. And I find myself almost feeling sorry for Ruth Davidson!!

ThisCakeFilledIsle · 24/06/2016 11:22

Is a screaming face off useful?

GhostofFrankGrimes · 24/06/2016 11:27

There will be no utopia for ordinary workers under Brexit. No wage increases, no new jobs, no security. I'm so very, very sorry.

Purplebluebird · 24/06/2016 11:27

I have not seen anything like that at all. I don't understand why you'd keep people like that on your friends list.

OhThatThingAgain · 24/06/2016 11:30

I voted remain. I don't think a very right wing conservative government will be good for the north. I knew Cameron would go if we exited and the other options are more right wing.

My family live up there, I am in London. I've experienced the opposite of the OP.

I have had to hide several crowing Brexiters today because they think it's going to be happy days. I don't think it will be. I see further cuts ahead, and the north will be hit hard. I grew up under Thatchers government in the 80s, I'm thinking of those times and what could happen if the economy dives. I hope I'm wrong.

I respect people's right to vote for whoever, but it's hard to hold your tongue when relatives are lording it up on FB and calling you a traitor. Gotta love family Sad

Hodooooooooor · 24/06/2016 11:30

YOUR FB feed is made up of YOUR FRIENDS.

If you have dick friends who say disgusting things, thats your fault for having them as friends and choosing to read their shit.

And you know how they say you can judge a person by looking at their friends....

squoosh · 24/06/2016 11:33

There will be no utopia for ordinary workers under Brexit. No wage increases, no new jobs, no security.

Nope and I wonder how long it will take for the realisation to dawn on them.

tootyflooty · 24/06/2016 11:36

I have used the term " uneducated", to imply politically uneducated, which on the surface many of us are, we only really just scratch the surface on what the implications of being in or out are. I do however feel that some people have just jumped on the immigration band wagon without looking at the bigger picture.
