DH and I, are definitely on the quirky side. We both got tattoos on our heads. Very similar, but mine is the female version and his is the male version. My mum never knew I was getting it done, tbh at 29 I wouldn't have said I needed her approval. I have my MIL blaming me and claiming that I have influenced her son into it. Friends claim that it looks ridiculous! All I want to know is WIBU? Surely as family and friends you don't have to just be damn right spiteful about a choice I have made, I mean it isn't illegal/hurting anyone. Grrr.

Personally, I think they look great! Tattoos are a very personal thing, and far too many people have opinions on them! Unwanted opinions too!!
I have a couple of tattoos myself, where you have had yours done is not somewhere I would choose, but then you and I are different, and guess what?! It's OK!!! Tell them the coffins represent the death of their holds over you as their children..... that'll piss them off!!! Grin

Very clearly both you're styles. The lines are really strong too - and you're hair will grow if need be. They are awesome!

My sixth tattoo is a mammoth one one my forearm of some brass knuckles and hand finished dot work in old school roses. My mam's first words when she saw it was "that's horrific, what on earth have you done to yourself".

I wear long sleeves for work as I feel it's correct for the environment i work in and the level I work at. At the end of the day it my body, my choice and although she hates it, she respects that.

Bit grim, think if you are going to get inked it should always use an artist of quality and they are are bit cheap looking, the writing isn't skilful. Sorry but you did ask

Stars2theside · 23/06/2016 22:03

I don't think OP asked what you thought of the tattoo.... was more what you thought about OP being annoyed with opinions of family and friends!

Fomalhaut · 23/06/2016 22:07

They're entitled to have an opinion and op is entitled to be annoyed about it,
Hopefully people won't be having lifelong rifts over something as trivial and commonplace as a tattoo?

P.S. 'Gotten' is an Americanism. Maybe the OP is American. Or just, like, influenced by, like, television (like the majority of us).
Anyway, if I spent my time pulling everyone on MN up about their use of sat when it should be sitting, I wouldn't have time to breathe.

"Gotten" is not technically an Americanism. It's an older form of British English that survived in the colonies/states, but dropped from use in Britain.
It's the same root word as in "forgotten" which has survived in British English.
