to have gotten matching head tattoos with DH?

DH and I, are definitely on the quirky side. We both got tattoos on our heads. Very similar, but mine is the female version and his is the male version. My mum never knew I was getting it done, tbh at 29 I wouldn't have said I needed her approval. I have my MIL blaming me and claiming that I have influenced her son into it. Friends claim that it looks ridiculous! All I want to know is WIBU? Surely as family and friends you don't have to just be damn right spiteful about a choice I have made, I mean it isn't illegal/hurting anyone. Grrr.

I like tattoos and I am tattooed. I wouldn't want one on my own skull but they suit you guys and I certainly wouldn't judge anyone for getting them. I think your friends are being a bit daft/hysterical and your mil a little bonkers.

Why hasn't yours got a jawbone though? That was my only critical thought. It's like you don't have a voice...

CauliflowerBalti · 23/06/2016 13:51

Ha IRegretNothing! Great minds!

IRegretNothing · 23/06/2016 13:53

snarkmaiden see, if I got a tattoo like that, it would just highlight my facial asymmetry and I'd look a total plonker. Works on you though because you kind of have to be pretty/attractive to pull off full-on alternative without looking slightly unhinged. Well, IMO obviously.

IRegretNothing · 23/06/2016 13:55

cauliflower oh no, sorry if you've already mentioned it upthread, I haven't rtft... But it really bothers me!

Sallystyle · 23/06/2016 14:02

Snark you look bloody amazing! Completely jealous of you right now Grin

Sallystyle · 23/06/2016 14:03

She doesn't have a jaw bone because she is eating the coffin!

She is meant to be eating it, isn't she?

idontlikealdi · 23/06/2016 14:04

Snark that is amazing!

TheOliveTree547 · 23/06/2016 14:06

She is only a half. You know those skulls without a jaw?? That's her! Grin

Wow! You look amazing! Right up my street Smile

Does it really matter ?
You had them done for you not for anyone else.
The fact that your MIL thinks her grown son is so easily influenced by a partner is probably a bigger problem but nothing to do with the tats - she'd clearly feel the same if you decided to move away or something else that she didn't like.

Snarkmaiden · 23/06/2016 14:15

I get blamed by my MIL for my husband's tattoos. She's quite sweet about it tho' and I strongly suspect she likes some of them (not that she would ever admit it).

wornoutboots · 23/06/2016 14:21

I like them :)

Micah · 23/06/2016 14:23

I like them.

Except for the bow on the girl. I don't think you needed to make it stereotypically "female". But I hate gender stereotypes :) and it jars a bit that a "dark" tattoo like that would need prettying up to conform.

awesomeness · 23/06/2016 14:31

I have massive leg tattoos and a huge chest/sternum/upper stomach tattoo

love the tattoos themselves but I just personally don't like head tattoos

but end of the day, it's your body, and if you want it covered, you can grow your hair, family and friends shouldn't be getting involved

ParanoidGynodroid · 23/06/2016 14:32

I expected to hate them, but actually think they're cute!
I like skellingtons, especially girly ones.

And YANBU.

awesomeness · 23/06/2016 14:34

and snark sweet cheeks your such a beauty,m

TheOliveTree547 · 23/06/2016 14:42

I liked the bow, so I got it. I didn't get it to conform or to make it more girly. I just like it. As you tell, I'm a bit of a fan of 'sickly sweet stuff' I have Care Bears tattooed on me Grin

Of course you were not unreasonable to make this choice for yourself. It is entirely up to you. If you like the tattoos, that is truly all that matters.

Speaking for myself, I dislike tattoos of all types. I have never seen one that made me think, "Oh, how lovely/amazing/attractive." Never. Some are worse than others IMO (and some are downright appalling). But all that means is that I will never choose to get a tattoo. Live and let live and all that jazz.

stareatthetvscreen · 23/06/2016 14:53

haha

i like them - i wasn't expecting to but they re fun

hair can always cover them too

karenjkayjay · 23/06/2016 15:07

I love it and think it looks awesome x

shovetheholly · 23/06/2016 15:09

snark your tattoo looks incredible, and you have the most amazingly beautiful bone structure.

I can't see the other pics Sad

Yorkiebar71 · 23/06/2016 15:16

I have 2 tattoos and planning a 3rd. Was told by lots of people when I had the first one 14 years ago that I would regret it. I don't. If you both love your tattoos then nobody else's opinion really matters. However I did see a woman a couple of days ago with half her face tattooed as a skull and thought that was maybe a bit too much

Elphame · 23/06/2016 15:30

I thought the OPs tattoos were cute - not for me but then that's OK.

My multiple ear piercings are not for everyone either (and I am still on the fence whether to go for the degree of stretching needed for a flesh tunnel)

NaraDeer · 23/06/2016 15:51

Fwiw I like them Smile
I've only got one tattoo myself and I'd like to get more.

Reapwhatyousow · 23/06/2016 15:59

Well, you can list it on your passport as an identifiable feature. You cannot however be a blood donor. So long as you are not on benefits, your bills are paid and you feed you children I don't give a ff, your money your choice. Do you not think the effect is somewhat diluted if you are not standing together? You can hardly be surprised at others having an opinion different to yours.

georgiatraher · 23/06/2016 16:03

I actually think they suit you guys. it's your decision.
